08' Nytro RTX 40th Anniversary - Stretched
I have been wanting a Phazer ever since they came out. I have toyed with selling my Rage and building a 136" RTX. In any case, I found a 07' FX with 3,500 miles and a blown engine that would allow me to keep my Rage and have a Phazer too. It blew a rod and a hole thru the engine case.

My question is are engine cases for Phazers readily available used? I would think that it will need alot of other parts but you cant do much without the cases to start.

Thanks, G.B.

Well You can by just the case but its $900. If you want a whole engine the dealer has to buy a full sled and sell the chassis and engine off. That will cost about $2,000-$3,000 for just the engine.

Other wise there are a few people who are selling engines on here. Usually when something goes wrong the pahzer engine, every thing goes.

Other then that I plan on selling my sled at the end of the season for $4,000 or possible more. I need to get money for another race sled first.

Thanks guys for your feedback. The only way this makes any sense is for me to rebuild the motor myself which is my intent. Used cases or a rebuildable motor is the way I would want to go. Like you mentioned Marpolsdofer; used Phazers around $4,000 are available. If I can get this sled for $2,000 or less then I think it is worth doing. Any more than that is not worth doing IMO. Yam177, I will look you up if I pull the trigger on this. Thanks, G.B.

I would make sure i could find the parts before spending the cash. That's a big investment to having sitting around waiting for a case to become available.

Worst case, I am pretty confident for that money I could part it out and make my money back and more. If you are telling me that used motors are out there but only last a few hours when listed for sale, then there is a market for Phazer parts. I put up thread because I havent see many Phazer engine parts for sale and wanted to see if they were out there somewhere. Thanks again, G.B.

I'll sell you my engine for 3500. It comes with the rest of the sled too.

I don't know how much money you'll make in parts if you don't have an engine to sell. Seems like a lot of work to break even.

With that being said you probably shouldn't pay 2K for a sled with a wrecked motor.

Yea I have a hard time selling stuff from my old chassis. Not many people need engine frame mounts, they just want shocks, a-arms, and stuff of that sort. That being said the engine is a lot of work. Even the sled it self is, it took week to move ever thing from one tunnel to another. Of course I had to some cutting and fabrication work.

there was a low mileage engine on Ebay a few weeks back, it was on there quite awhile for 1900$ and didn't sell until the Buy It Now was dropped to 1700$. Spendy to fix, thats for sure. I'm glad mine was under warranty when she blew. My dealer said it would have been just as cheap to uncrate a new left over sled and exchange the whole sled but Yamaha didn't want to do that.

3 and 4 yr old sleds can't have a whole lot of clicks on them, so what is the deal with these 4 strokes blowing anyway? I thought they're supposed to be bullet proof?

Mine I hit something and broke the oil tank. and took out the rod bearing before I saw the oil light. I was testing some stuff and didn't see the light

Plain bad luck then. So did you hit it on the bottom where the oil drains?
Would a skid plate have protected it?
