Engine Cases

Might have I was doing 60-70 down a ditch and it bottomed out! Hard to say but it also cracked the side frame so I doubt a skid plate would have helped

3 and 4 yr old sleds can't have a whole lot of clicks on them, so what is the deal with these 4 strokes blowing anyway? I thought they're supposed to be bullet proof?

Mine was a faulty rod, both the rod bearing and piston pin moved freely, the dealer just told me the rod literally cracked in half with no signs of anything else causing the rod to go. First engine failure my dealers seen on a phazer and between all 3 of their dealerships they have sold close to 300 phazers. 364 days out of the crate with 790 miles on it when it went.

Thanks guys for all of your input. You have given me some additional things to think about. The whole reason to consider buying this Phazer with a blown motor is to have one for less money than buying one ready to ride. I am now thinking that it might only make sense if I can get the sled for $1,200 - 1,500 and try to keep from putting more than $1,000 into rebuilding the motor. This would mean searching for used engine parts or a rebuildable engine that could take some time. This is no big deal for me as this would be a second sled. So maybe this is doable or maybe it is not. Thanks again, G.B.
