I have a 03 RX1 with 2500 miles on it. I keep getting the warning light flashes {the orange light on the right} and the same time shows the engine icon flash at the same time. I changed the oil no luck & figured it might be a bad oil sending unit so I switched it with my other sled with no luck. Could it be some sort of error code? And the sled does run fine though. Any help or direction would be much helpful thanks.

Yes the warning symbol light flashes a code that coincides with the error codes in the manual.

Read these pages and try and determine what the code is. Once you know what it is, I will post the pages that show how to check and repair it.

Thanks I would say it be the grip warmer code. flashes go On for a second off 2 seconds back on a second off again 2 seconds etc etc. Should the engine icon flash at the same time as warning lights?

Have you checked the connections on the Grip Warmers? Do you have the Grip Warmer Resistance Specs to test them?

Looks like on the 03, all you do to check the grip warmers is to measure for continuity (i.e. if there is infinite ohms across the warmer elements, that means they are open.) If they have continuity, they are O.K.

Open = replace.

Here are the pages to check the handwarmers, it is a common problem on the early RX's:

Len & red you guys have been very helpfull. The hand grips are not getting hot. Now atleast I know what direction to follow. Now I have to figure is it the grips or switch. I thinking grips cause the switch goes up an down fine. THANKS again.

hand warmers

i just bought some hot grips for my apex 50 bucks canadian,pretty cheap,and suppose to work better than oem hand coolers it came with.

good luck D

and good work RedRocket on posting the tech pages,that is what makes this site great

Thanks for posting that I had a 3 flasher after riding in some insane powder which means thumbwarmer disconnected but I think it was packed with snow as 2 miles into the flashing it went away. Got home pulled the bar pad and it was soaked! All good now, thanks!

You can test the switch using an Ohm meter too. Disconnect the switch. Set the meter for continuity and connect to the switch's connector. Then, work the switch. You should see the needle go to Zero ohms when you press it down. If not, then you could have a switch problem. But, the switch going bad is a low probability. I do not see very many problems with the switches.
