My 03 rx1 is throwing a 1 long, 1 short code. ( flashing on the orange and engine icon ) Looked in the service manual, did not find this code there. Did a search here, still no luck. Does anyone know what this code means?

Thanks, Aaron

Do not have that one in my '04 Tech Manual either. Huhm??? I would check all the fuses, then clean all the connection points, then Start 'er up and look for anything not working right? I'll bet it is a loose or dirty connection.

Thanks for the reply. Everything seems to be working. (all lights, warmers, switches ect.) I'll go recheck everything again later when i'm not soo thcked at the thing :o| . Would be nice if ALL the codes were in the service manual.

Thanks, Aaron

Has it got plenty of gas and Oil in it?

If everythong is working, it sounds like a bad/corroded wiring connection (e.g. a wire used to report status of a circuit to the Computer or possibly inside the computer. But a bad computer is highly unlikely.)

Did you try disconnecting the battery to let the computer reset?

Got a chance to mess with it last night. Dealer said the one long, one short code is the start self test. Usually it only flashes this once when you first start the machine. For some reason the cpu was thinking the motor wasn't running is what they told me. I disconnected different plugs, one at a time, starting the sled after each one (tps, hanwarmers, ect,). Each time it threw a code for the specific thing I unpluged, but when I pluged it back in I would restart the sled, and it would throw the long, short. The tors is the only one that would not throw it's code when disconnected, only long, short. At the throttle block I had a little slack so I pushed the throttle totally closed, then started it, and got no codes. I was told it is most likley due to some thing with the tors in the throttle block, so now I have the tors looped at the motor and no codes for now. I hope that was the problem.

So what your saying is the one long and one short code = a problem with TORS. Right?

I have the Tech Manual and it does not address this code. Time to make another note in the book.

Seems like you should be able to make the TORS adjustment and eliminate the bypass. If that throttle cable freezes once, you'll wish you had fixed it. It happened to me once, when I had the Throttle Safety Switch and Emergency Shut Off and Thether bypassed (for previous troubleshooting) on one of my ZRs. Fortunetly for me, I was on a road and I had time to lift the hood and free up the cable.

It may not be directly related to the tors. As I understood it from the dealer that was talking with yamaha, the one long, one short is just showing that the cpu is starting the self test. They told me that the cpu did not read that the motor was running (even though it was), and kept trying to do the test. Don't know how or even if the tors is the culprit for the code. For now there is no code, so I'll wait and see if it comes back again.
