Hey guys.... helping a buddy look for a Vector or Rage. We checked one out that had the orange dot of death strike. Guy got the head rebuilt, no piston damage luckily.
However... the engine generally runs rough at idle & when we revved it on the stand, at & right about engagement, 3000-3500 rpms it vibrated HORRIBLE.
I didnt even rev it farther to see if it got worse, or came out of it.
So... question is, if he (seller) didn't get it timed perfectly again & is off 1 tooth would it do this?
It also would "hang" at high idle after revving it up, but would settle down & idle poorly.
Thanks for the help.

He is. Too many unknowns with this one.
I'm still curious why it vibrates so damn bad though.

Oh it shakes wayyyy worse than carb syncing.Sync the carbs.
I'm really thinking the seller had it apart farther than he was letting onto.
I think there was piston damage, he had the crankcase apart & he messed up the timing of the balance shaft in the crankcase.
