On the new APEX with EPS. I know a worm drive will turn a gear. Also know a gear can't turn a worm drive. If power is lost for what ever reason, will you not be able to steer the new APEX with EPS?

I would tend to believe that if there was a failure with the EPS, that it would be allowed to free wheel.Just like as if the snowmobile were turned off.Just my .02

When sitting on them while they are not running the skis turn freely just as any other sled, so they figured that out already for us!

I would have to say it is the same setup as the power steering on a Grizzly.

That issue was discussed many times and the same will hold true for the sled,,if it fails, it goes back to regular steering mode so it doesn't leave you stranded.
With the amount of atv sites I use to frequent, not once did I hear of a EPS system failing, seems Yamaha did their homework first before they marketed it.
I also believe on a sled, since it is not subjected to the same rigors as an atv, it will more than likely last for the life of the sled.

Must be the worm drive turns the gear that steers the sled. That would work as I don't think there is a clutching system.
I believe you can still steer it as it is an helper and not a full blown hydralic system. You can turn the skis with it shut off and it feels the same as one that doesnt have EPS.

Irv are you sure a sled does not go through same rigors as an ATV?
