06 Apex.
Idle started to get low,1000rpm. I turned the idle adj screw all the way in and very little change. Now sometimes the idle is 2200, and other times back to 1000. Doesnt seem to be a ryme nor reason, and position of idle adj seems nearly irrelavent.
Other than that, seems to run well, but you have to hold the throttle for a few seconds on cold start or it will die.
Any suggestions?
Exhast gaskets and Y pipes are new and no leakes. The sled is bone stock.
The issue started before the Y pipes blew out, and continued after they were replaced.

Sounds similar to my thread...which I haven't found an answer to yet...although my idle adjustment seems to work. And although most cold starts the idle drops down a lot, I don't need to touch the throttle...it comes back up.

Have you checked the air filter or piece of foam in the air box? If the sled was tipped or something oil could have gotten in the box and gummed up the filter allowing it to hold dirt and crap and plug up?
i am having the same issue when first started cold. my sled is at the dealed for some rear suspension work but i also mentioned this issue. i will be picking it up this weekend and let you guys know what they tell me.

I am going to raise the mechanical butterfly idle stop a little. And see what happens.

I think Yamaha knows there is a idle issue so they added this to the 2011 models. From Yamaha site.
ISC (IDLE SPEED CONTROL)
ISC ensures stable idle right after starting. Not only does it improve starting and idling stability, it also controls changes in idling speed to facilitate warm-up, with improved starting and idling performance at higher altitudes. ISC also incorporates EBRS (Engine Braking Reduction System).

thats what they said the radiator was was for on the apexs. my dealer told me change your spark plugs and see if that helps.
