<<<There are many Yamaha Apex riders and FX Nytro riders interested in the 4 stroke from BRP.Gas and go is nice.Mpg is very good on the Brp 4 stroke.Big gas tank.Looking at 2010.Motors in the Yamahas are hard to beat but from talking to friends the thinking is the total chassis around the motor is what would sell the BRP sled compared to the Yamaha. >>>
Exactly, that and the fact that the Doo suspensions have more of a tendency to work out of the box. The motor sold me on the current Yammi. Live and learn. The next sled will be looking at the package.....

I demo rode the prototype 1200 Doo at Old Forge, along with all the 2009 Yamaha's. IMHO, the Yamaha's are much more refined. The 1200 Doo was pretty nice for its state of tune. Seat of the pants feel was that the FX Nytro and 1200 Doo are pretty comparable in power. The Apex had a lot more ferocious grunt and acceleration. As far as handling goes it wasn't a good test because the sleds were setup for what weight rider? The Apex I demo'ed had the Ohlins handlebar mount adjustability, so I got that one dialed in the best on the fly Like someone mentioned earlier, the competition will force Yamaha to keep improving their products. Why doesn't Yamaha use DI it was asked? You gotta have incremental upgrade improvements I noticed the 2009 Venture GT has a fuel injected genesis 120 engine, but the Vector models do not. Hence an "improvement" for 2010 Vector models. ...though a EFI Vector would have around 126hp, which might make it too close to the FX Nytro models power?

So, why does the Etec have less hp, than their SDI? You don't direct Injection on a 4 stroke.
You don't do direct injection on a four stroke?

The Venture GT has a Nytro based engine witch is made to go smoother and more Touringlike than the 130FI

There is already lots of direct injected cars out there, don't see why they couldn't do it on a snowmobile engine.

It is not that they couldn't put DI on a 4 stroke sled, it is just that right now there is no reason to financially. It will be here as soon as the pollution regulations get strict enough.

Exactly! The technology is there, but they won't put it on until they have to. That keeps costs down and profits up, and allows the technology to be further evolved in other markets that will do most of the engineering work before it is brought to this market. That is the way it ALWAYS goes with new technology, especially regarding emissions.

The biggest problem with the Doo will be the usual reliability issues, they have tons of electrical problems with the 4 stroke quads. I know its not the same but the electrical issues will carry through for sure. 2 of my friends that have Bomb quads have sold them due to reliablilty issues and warranty problems. One of them even had the motor go on it.
Some things will never change.
Imagine having all of their starter issues on a 4 stroke sled. LOL
That flimsy chassis under the motor may not hold up either...I guess we will see.

That's funny, I have three BRP quads(two 08 v-twins) with over 10,000km and the only thing I have done is brake pads, and we drive the crap out of them. The only toy I've had to fix in the last year is my V-Max, rail went though the track.
The big V-twins are solid so there is no reason the 1200 in the sleds won't be just as good. Yamaha make a great engine but the Rotax 4 strokes are just as good.

DS 650 has to be one of the most reliable quads ever built other than a few minor electrical issues.(fan, oil switch)

The Nytro will stay a 130hp sled do to sno-cross rules. I doubt they do anything to the Vector ( I think the vector might go away when production parts are exhausted) do to the Nytro. The Apex is another story. I predict that they will put that motor in a chasis similar to the nytro and increase it's hp (not necessarily displacement), if they deem they need to to stay ahead of the competition.
It sure is funny how BRP was the biggest slammer of Yamaha 4strokes and now they have one of there own! :exc:
After riding four stroke bikes, atv's and sleds for years I cann't hardly stand to be around a 2smoker anymore ( and i still have a a 2stroke mod sled that my son rides).

Yes, I concurr, my buddy rides the F*&^% out of his 800 Outti and it's been flawless. I think it had a couple of updates done, but it never left him stranded. Fast and great motor.... Does not stop the best or handle that great, but rides awesome and runs hard.

No way! Not everyone wants a chassis that is as aggressive as the Nytro.
