I checked with my Dealer who checked with both Yamaha and MPI. The dealer said he spoke with both companies and that reflashing the Factory ECU will void both Yamaha’s and MPI’s warranties.

So I called MPI and they told me that it was definitely going to damage a motor at any boost level running above 9000 RPM on the 2016 Viper. The 2015 and earlier was not as bad. MPI told me that they recommended not running over 5 PSI (or 8 in the mountains) without an intercooler. They also told me that reflashing the ECU was not going to help run more boost on pump gas (they did say that worked on the nytro, but not the Viper). And they told me that their intercooler kit had 4th injector built in and was recommended instead of replacing the OEM injectors with larger ones.

I figured I should post this incase anyone with a 2016 was thinking of the reflash.

Well I can see them saying that for the 16's due to the rod issues but on a 14 or 15 pulling timing will allow you to run higher boost on pump gas. I am set up with 7#'s on pump gas with 4th injector and upgraded fuel pump. I am at 10.5#'s on race fuel all on stock motor with no head shim because of the timing pull.

Ya. I'm sure your right yamadog. Just putting this out there for people under warranty

I also had th rev limiter raised to 9750 with the clutching holding me to 9000 and under but was hitting the limiter on last years set up on launch and could not load enough weight into the heel to get it off due to track spin.

Lol. I'm hittin the trails tonight. Hopefully I don't have to think of that word.

Ibuprofen and Jack Daniels to lubricate the joints!

Did you get them gears in Yet?

My first thought was "OMG yes we need something safe like a GEMS controller" then I had to quit laughing so hard before I hurt myself.

I have to admit - I don't like running higher boost levels by reducing timing - especially without an inter cooler. I think you're just asking for your motor in a basket...........

Yeah, sucks that Yamaha had to make changes to the rods when the 14's and 15's were working good. Now the guys with late build 2016's putting turbos on are having problems....(Shaking my head)

If Yamaha would have done their homework from the beginning with the ECU problems ....we wouldn't have had to figure out a re-flash to fix their problems and get the full power out of our Vipers....Yamaha should have just put in the Nytro ECU and wiring from the start.

I think that was also the opinion of another well known turbo supplier on here...........
