2009 Yamaha Nytro xtx
i recently purchased a 2016 viper mtx 141 se with 5 year YES warranty in late February due to my nytro giving me problems during my trip. With intentions of turbo it after my trip was over. I have called Yamaha themselves (warranty hotline number) and mpi. I have questioned these things about this whole process. And here's my answers!

Please give me your opinion on there responses!!!

My first question was does the mpi turbo have to be linked to the vin number in order to keep warranty? Mpi told me no. Yamaha warranty claims told me no that this is a rumor that some dealerships are saying to get install cost. They also enlightened me and said the only ones that they know are turboed are spring ordered turbo ones or ones that have had warranty work done!

Second question was Does the Mpi turbo
And kit have to be installed by a Yamaha dealer in order to not void YES warranty.
Mpi told me no, however he said with the problems of the 2016s that he would perfer them to do it. that way Yamaha couldn't question install. I called Yamaha and they told me no. They said that it doesn't matter who installs but to just remember if the install is done incorrect or if problems are caused by the turbo that it won't be covered under warranty. He said we have several people who elect to install kit themselves.

My final question was does the Mpi turbo kit have to be purchased through Yamaha or can I purchase it directly from Mpi? reason why I ask is because Mpi turbo price is like 2600 right now v.s. The 3200 from Yamaha part number. Yamaha told me it didn't matter as long as it was Mpis kit. And Mpi said it didn't matter as well.

Can anyone agree or disagree with these answers I got ! Thanks jake

Agreed. We installed both kits ourselfs and still have YES warranty till 2019. I just use my warranty for starter replacement about a month ago no issues.

Dealer told me it wouldn't be a problem if I wanted to install a turbo myself

Everything was done N\C???

Whats N\C mean? Do you mean no charge on the warranty? If so yes no charge to me, it was a $1000+ warranty claim and 100% covered by Yamaha. No reason it wouldn't have been covered under the 5 year YES plan.

n/c = NO charge. !
Here in CANADA or maybe just in Quebec they screw us!
For the same job here ,we have to pay 2-3 hours to remove the turbo+ the oil change

minimum 300$ for this job.......

What a good warranty!!!!!

I had to do it twice this year.

yamaha CANADA won't cover nothing ,if somebody has this job N/C here it was paid from their dealer pocket.......
