excel exhaust

Well the Excell exhaust completely changes the tone of the exhaust. Remember that the "drone" that you may be hearing may not be because of the volume. It could be because of the tone/frequency ect. I know I've ridden my friend's cat which has one of the louder cans on it. It's less annoying than another buddies Pol two stroke sled I rode that's much quieter, just because it doesn't sound like a million mosquitos buzzing around you.

I've been through Trooper checkpoints in NY with the Excell. They kinda glare at it first because it's obviously not stock. I've never been written on it though because it's not all that loud at low idle.

I think you will find that it not the actual exhaust db, but the other harmonics that are giving you the headaches. Some members reported that changing the clutching would help with the drone.

Mongo 1 - I have to agree - I don't understand the exhaust being a problem when it exits out the back opposed to existing in front on a 2 stroke - the 700+ miles I logged on an Apex last season, the exhaust was the last thing I heard - maybe they were wearing cheap helmets!! (or maybe no helmets!)

plug'em!

Hey tt- I hear you loud and clear. Try some of the foam ear plugs-they take the drone out of it. worked for me.

That was the solution for me, muffle the drone, but still hear well enough to be aware of the surroundings.

Ear plugs are the answer for not only the Snowmobile noise but the air blasting into your helmet. I had a 50% hearing loss in my left ear overnight, doctor said it was a virus??? I started wearing earplugs ever since and I can't believe what a difference it makes when I forget to put them in after a short break on the trail.
