Anyone else have trouble tightening the exhaust clamps on their 2007 FX phazers. I noticed when I took the exhaust apart that the clamps weren't very tight. Putting sled back together now and I cannot get the clamps tight. They bottom. Is this because the donuts/gaskets are worn out? I'll post some pics in a minute.

i think its made like that cuz me and my bro both did our rx1's and both were the same with the loose clamps, how bad was it to get to the donuts on the phazer
Ground down the clamp
I ground down the clamp a little to allow it to close more and the clamp is now tight. See how long that holds. Next time I'm in there I'll replace the donuts.

Yes the donuts shrink or wear then the clamps fall off from rattling around.Check for cracks in the pipes also.

Keep in mind the amount of heat at that location. Basically the clamps stretch and may not tighten, combine that with worn donuts and loose clamps are what your get. If you ride up to 2000 or more miles a year just change them out. Maybe grint eh clamp a bit this year then next year get new ones. Phazer donuts are easy to get to, other than geting the dang headlamp/shroud thing out of the way. Basically pull the seat tank and your there.
The ice slamming into them from open hole is what causes the issues in my opinion.I closed the front hole and problem hasnt ever came back.
