It dumps into the tunnel and causes all kinds of icing problems in temps below freezing. That is why I did the following; but the VL setup with the muffler and the exhaust in the tunnel and all the heat there is different from the Phazer. Maybe the Phazer wouldn't be so bad for icing with the muffler under the seat and the exit routed to the tunnel.evilminivan said:How is the exhaust routed on the Venture lite? have done this with all four of our machines ... two phazer mtns and two nytro fx's ... no noticeable difference in icing for our area / snow type ... might be different in tons of powder.
It did make a huge difference in amount of storage space on the sleds. Now its easy to carry extra gas / backpack / etc. Here's a couple of pics of how we fabbed it up - don't have any of the install but the exit pipe was trimmed to just below the block off plate. The old exit hole in the muffler was also blocked off. The exhaust dumps pretty close to the very end of the phazers - the nytros were shorties that we extended to 144's so the exhaust dump is a little further forward.

no offense couch,
while i am all for the conversion to tunnel dump,
i cannot justify re-using the stock muffler. i mean cost is big, but with a used streetbike can available for under $50 the weight savings alone is colossal.
that stock can is a beast, and i figure if im going to change things im gonna trim. i mean your taking a 15lb exhaust and adding another pound to it. for a 16lb setup. aftermarket can is like 5-7lbs and a 90deg turnout is a few onces.
plus the size is smaller.
granted this is just my opinion and maybe up your way the noise police are hard on you.

Finished weight was the same ... noise was the same / slightly less as it dumps under the tunnel. Noise police not an issue but personal preference is for quiet ... I can not understand the whole "how loud can I make it" ... guess that it makes some people think that the sled / car / bike / truck is more bad #*$&@ or whatever.
As for the turn out, still have a hot piece of metal exposed ... under the tunnel its out of the way and no worries about melting knapsack, gas cans, boots or clothing. Agreed that ideally a lighter muffler would be better but would still turn down / dump under the tunnel.

Have you guys had problems with icing in the tunnel with the tunnel dumps? That is my only concern.
