I just replaced both y-pipes and donuts. The material was just about all gone on mine also. My dealer gave me some of the beige fiberglass wrap and I glued it down.

What kind of glue did you use that can withstand such high temps?

I just looked at the glue I used and it isn't rated that high. I just took the strips off. Not sure what to use now. The "Thermo-Tec Adhesive-Backed Heat Barrier" in the link above to Advance Auto looks like the easiest.

It is such different material that I am hesitant. Although I can't find a better option. You can get it much cheaper then Advance Auto if you go that route.
I just looked at the cover that goes over the top of the flex pipes. Is that insulated as well? I am guessing it is but mine is gone there to. Could someone take a peak and let me know?

Yes it is, it insulates the fuel tank from the headers.

There is no way I am paying $100 for the plates that have insulation.
I just ordered a roll of 12"x24'" insulation to do both plates for $27.

You can get it cheaper as I paid $5 extra for two day shipping as I am trying to get things finished quickly. If you wait until early next week I will post some pictures of the material and how it worked.

This is what I noticed on mine. It was loose. It seemed I lost a couple rivets holding that bottom plate down, which caused mine to come up a little. 1 of my flex tubes was hitting it and melted some of the material away. I drilled a few more holes in other places, placed rivets in them, and the 2 I lost. This bottom plate is now flat as can be and sturdy.
I may even line that bottom and upper plate with some header wrap I have. I also noticed my 4 exhaust gaskets were toast. Hope someone has them in stock!

I ordered the "Thermo-Tec Adhesive-Backed Heat Barrier" from Amazon. Ordered it Weds. and had it Friday. If you buy one 12" x 12" and one 12" x 24", it comes out to $25.37 and you get free shipping.

Put it on this morning and it looks like it will work great. I already had my exhaust together so it was a little harder to install. Real simple when you install it while changing the donuts and everything is out of the way.
Sled is mostly back together. Still have the shocks to get serviced from PP and changing all the idler wheel bearings. Also, all the bushings in the secondary need to be replaced.

I started to install mine yesterday. I did the top plate and need to do the bottom. I will try and take pictures.
I am not sure I would recommend this stuff. The adhesive is only rated to 300 degrees. I tested it on metal with a scrap piece and heat from a propane torch. The glue comes undone and the material shrivels. I tried some existing oem material and that material stays together. I imagine those flex pipes get extremely hot so I don't expect this to last. It is worth a try at this point though, atleast until something better is figured out.

Would it be possible to use a fender washer and a rivet to hold the insulation material in place. You may not be able to use a blind rivet, but rather one you would have to peen over. Not sure on the clearance to the fuel tank, and you wouldn't want it rubbing on the tank. Just seems like a couple of decent sized washers and peened rivets from the underside may be enough to hold it up. On the ends maybe just slice a tab in the shield plate and bend it to hold.

what can happen if insulation not replaced. I noticed i have no more insulation on the top cover and missing a lot under. And its the first time i look at this in over 10 000km, and exhaust donut have been replace maybe 2000 km ago. I guess i ran without heat shield since while ago. Everything look fine, no sign of heat damage on the tank too. And this is for my Rx-1
