anybody have any tips on removing the stock exhaust (just muffler), short of brute force. I dont want to put too much stress on the rest of the pipe/headers. I would like to re use the steel gasket on the MBRP pipe if i can.

Try twisting muffler left and right while pulling back. My stock muffler was hard coming off as well.

I would also try that. It can be a real bear to remove that thing. Just keep working it back and fourth and with some time it'll come.

If you are putting on a mbrp muffler get them to send you one of their 2.25" stainless band clamps. No way would my stock clamp tighten down on the mbrp muffler.
For getting it off, just get mad at it, shake rattle and roll! Shake it side to side, up and down, all while pulling backwards like you're going for the gold.

Thanks all. I wrestled it off with some cursing involved. Managed to use my factory band clamp, just needed to use vice grips to bring the flanges closer to get the threads started.

My factory band clamp bottomed out and it was no where near tight. 2 mufflers and 2 clamps later I got it all together. Came away with a free mbrp muffler however.
