I bought a used Exit X1 rear shock for my XTX and I can’t find any install info on their web page...does anyone have a picture of one installed on a XTX? Is the reservoir up or down? Thanks!
bcite? Not sure where that came from lol

I have the EXIT X2. I mounted mine with the reservoir down and to the right. You will have to remove one of the center idler wheels. I’ve heard that some people remove both of them but I felt it was better to leave the left side in place.
By the way I love mine. It may seem hard to justify spending $600 for single shock but I feel it was money well spent. ZBroz put in a spring and custom valved mine for my weight and riding style and they nailed the calibration. Once everything was broken in I am within two turns on the spring and one click on the compression dampening from their original settings. And I have experimented a lot. I also have the stiffer ZBroz center shock spring. Using their recommendation I went with the 145 pound rate spring because I only weigh 160 pounds. Many others seem to be happy with 160 pound spring. -PeeWee

Thank you! I have already removed the wheels (I’ve broken both mounts)...I have a stingray spring (which I think is 160 lbs) in the front already which I feel made a big difference so with the new shock it should be even better. Do you still run the floats on the front or did you change them?

I am still running the floats on the front but I had EVOL’s put on them. Once again they make a big difference. I don’t think they are quite as responsive as a coil over shock at low speeds but the faster I ride the more impressed I am with how well they work. The evol allows you to run less pressure in the main shock body. I’m running 62 pounds in the main chamber at 120 psi in the evol.
If you buy the kit from Fox the chamber is clocked 90° different than a factory Arctic Cat/Yamaha Float EVOL. Because of this the shocks have to be mounted upside down. Fox confirmed that this is not a problem as far is their function but it does make the EVOL chamber a little more vulnerable to damage. I have a friend that’s in the business so I was able to have the kit installed for next to nothing. The Hi-Gear extra volume chambers are similar in function to the Fox Evol but they are designed to be installed without specialty tools or taking the shock apart.
