I have my revalved shocks in!. Went for a little spin today and am very happy with the job Carver did. Ran across some stutters and it feels as good as my old revalved/resprung Mono. The true test was jumping driveway approaches and flying FLAT, and landing without crashing the skid. I am running my shock springs on the 5th of 7 detents on the adjuster. No more kickback when jumping and with the progressive valving it's SMOOOTH through the stutters! Finally get to see what this skid can REALLY do!! OH, and the GYTR's on the front are WAY smoother with the progressive revalve. Sled should be boodockin'beast now LOL.

Expert X shocks
I'm looking for shocks for my Expert suspension. I have the old version with steel bodied shocks. Are yours still available?
Viper_Dave said:Well if you had asked this Monday I could have helped ya LOL! I just shipped mine to Carver for a rebuild and revalve. Should have them back late next week. If no one else gets it, I'll have it for you then!

Lenn, only have the 1 set. Might contact Carver or Hygear if you need new ones. They might be able to tell you what might interchange. Get your skid installed?

By reading your post above, it sounded like you had a set shocks available. I will try contacting Carver and Hygear....thanks. Yes, I got it installed yesterday. Went well. I took your advice and air chiseled all the rivets off. That took about 10 minutes...great tip! I had to change every wheel bearing in the skid so that took a day. Looks like the skid is about 7-8 years old. Still in excellent shape. Turns out it's not the Expert X but the Expert. Very similar though. The measurements are the same. Just doesn't have good shocks, they are steel bodied old school. So I would like to upgrade them with something newer. Looks like they use Ski Doo shocks. I wonder if I had the specs on them if I could find some used ones on eBay? I'm going to try and call AD Boivin today to see what I should be using. My sled sit's higher with this skid. Does it squat under accelleration?Viper_Dave said:Lenn, only have the 1 set. Might contact Carver or Hygear if you need new ones. They might be able to tell you what might interchange. Are the shocks rebuildable Lenn? If so, just get them revalved to get you out in the snow. When/if you get the new ones, the new valve stacks are easily copied/transfered to the new shocks.....
Dave, progressive stacks are the the plan, eh!!!! Learning about those the best thing that ever happened to my butt/back! Nice to see when others
get to see the same thing.

Yes, your sled will sit higher, but you should have an adjustment for that. I downloaded both service manuals from Boivins site and it shows the adjustment procedure. And the Expert does transfer weight!
al, I had my first set of progessively valved shocks on my 97 XTC. Bruce Schraeder did them. I have since sent several set's his way. I went with Carver this time because of recommendation from Al Ulmer. I'll have a better report later in the week.

No, they are steel bodied non-rebuildable. I'm anxious to try it. Anyone know where I can get used shocks for this thing?

Just got off the phone with Max from Ad Boivin. He's sending me a set of used shocks in great condition from an Expert X skid. They are rebuildable and tunable. Also sending some adapter bushings to adapt them to my older style skid. For $400, I figured I couldn't go wrong. Hope to see them before the weekend!

Skid is in. Because it's not the expert x but the older version called the expert, it came with steel bodied shocks. The ride is much better but it's very under damped. After putting in a call to AD Boivin, I discovered they had some nice used aluminum bodied/rebuildable shocks for it. So I will be installing them when they arrive. I also had them send some of the components from the Expert X skid. This wil update this skid to the newer design and give me more adjustability. I'm looking forward to riding this weekend!
