I put the wahl brothers extroverts on my RX-1 mountain this weekend. I put a 2 1/4" finger track on it too (man it looks mean). My question is how much slack in the track tension should I allow? Should I have an 1 1/2" to 2" hanging below the hifax? If I have too much then the track will balloon and at 2 1/4" inches the track it could hit something easily. I tried to rotate the track with my hands and noticed it was hard to turn and seems to jump and bind up in the middle on the top of the tunnel just before engaging the extrovert drivers. I understand under power the drivers will be grabbing the track windows while now I'm pushing the track onto the extroverts. The drivers are indexed and perfectly in the middle of the track windows too. My chain is slightly less than finger tight.
Dave Konopaski's track at the snowmobile show could be spun easily. Mine is tough, so I loosened up the track and no better. If my dang work light had not broken I might be able to see that the track is hitting in the top of the tunnel? Also, my lock nuts for adjusting the track are backed off so far that they are beyond the locking mechanism to get about an inch below the hifax. Am I even close with the adjustment? Powder Blue

Powder,
One thing to remember, Dave put the 8" billet wheels on his too. They make a huge difference because the track comes around an 8" bend much easier than the stock size, also the stock wheels are rubber on rubber, lots more friction than aluminum on rubber. I will be putting my extroverts on soon, also 8" rear billet wheels.

Good point Tree Whacker. It's too bad you're getting a turbo now I can never ride with you  I hadn't thought about that at all. It's weird though, I am trying to spin the track from the rear where it goes around the back idlers and I think extroverts are just better at pulling that having things pushed into them.
I initially thought maybe the extroverts were not positioned where they are suposed to be on the shaft but I think they're ok. They line up nicely. I'd love a set of those dang billet wheels but are they ever expensive! Maybe when all my other stuff is done. No wonder I don't have enough money left for a turbo. Powder Blue

PS: Are you guys riding yet and how much is the Boon docker nitrous like Dave has?

:?: Is it possible to put 8" wheels on a stock 151" skid? I looks like they would interfere with the transfer rods

True blue, last year I did not have the lightweight rear suspension mounts but I did add the MPI transfer kit. Thats' when the ratcheting started in my opinion.
KMER, this is maybe one benefit of the MPI transfer kit. You could use the larger wheels because the transfer rods are gone.
I put the 2.25" track on backwards because it was used and the paddles were bent over slightly. So i decided to run it so the bend in the track will cup the snow as it comes around. I guess I'll find out if it works soon enough. PB

i would not suggest running the finger track backwards,,,, i did this on my 890-polaris 151 mod sled and it was detrimental to performance.. the way the track is designed the fingers feed the outer paddles and provide flotation, traction, and propulsion at the same time,,, I noticed pretty substantial trenching with my finger running backwards,,,

only a suggestion,,,, from my past expierience.

i am just now thinking of mods for the rx,,, so far the only thing done to it is heelclickers, exhaust mod, and jetting/ suspension tuning... it is evry bit equal to or better than a skidoo 800 144 with a fifty pound lighter rider on it,,, we spent all winter riding together and were dead even,.

THIS IS A VERY LARGE ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR YAMMI,,,,, who else could have come out with a fourstroker and been compettetive,,, ??

I ditched the transfer rods last year and put on the MPI transfer kit. so I never gave it a thought. Just measure out 4" from center of your axle, that will tell you where the 8" wheels will come to. As you can see on Dave's sled, they don't come any where near the straps of the MPI Transfer Kit.

Not to state the obvious, but was your belt on or off? If it was on it might be tight enough that you were having to spin the motor as well. I have a Warrior and have the same problem but haven't tried it without the belt.
