I was about to throw down some cash for some slydogs and all i did is toe the skis out, BAM problems solved, end of story ,i was running 8in woody single carbides.

I am gonna try exaclty one turn on each tirod tonight!

I found some darting on a soft-freshly groomed trail that had only a few other sled tracks on it.

I took it like a man and gave her some more throttle.

I ran Weds about 150 miles in Cadilac Mi on freshly groomed trails pass a groomer twice with no problem dog tracking. However, I shimmed the back side of my skis about 1/4 inch and seemed to work great. A tip that was discussed early on the formum.

Toe out should make it dart more.. 0 toe should keep it from darting (or help)

All of the sleds ive ever owned darted.. It all depends on conditons.. If the snow is fresh.. NO DARTING... if the snow is hardpack with grooveds.. LOTS OF DARTING..

shimming the skis does help.. but does not totally eliminate the darting... ( you would have to elimated sleds riding on trails before you)

I did the fix before my sled saw the snow!! It still has some darting...I am not complaining..because it's just an awesome sled!!

I have posted on this subject before, but will again tell how I solved the darting problem. I am running 96 Studboy 1.375 carbides down the middle on my Apex-er, with Studboy 6" shaper bars. What seem to eliminate the darting was that I put the Ski-doo ski savers on. These ski savers which are Kit#860703700 cost about $20.00 and fit the ski's perfectly. The darting was completely gone. Four of my friends have the same set-up now and with the same results. They take less than a half hour to install. I hope this helps some of you.

Do you have to make holes in the ski to install the ski savers??

Cause after if you take them out, there will be holes?? :o|

DARTING

I know this has been discussed before, but my GT darted so bad I hated it. Last weekend I rode it most of the afternoon and early evening. The darting was bad enough to make it hard to keep on a narrow trail. I took the GT back to camp and jumped on the SRX, rode it down the same loop of trails, guess what? No darting. It's not " the conditions", or the snow. It is something in the ski / suspension design. I measured the toe and it was as close to zero as I could measure. I then adjusted it for about 3/16 toe out. With out any other changes I rode it and the darting was 85% gone. By the way I have shims installed. The next step is to install the Bergstrom triple carbides and the ski savers. Hopefully it works. On a previous sled ( Viper ) I had this problem and a set of DOOLYS helped a bit. I need to go back and check my other sleds because I have been setting all my sleds up for ZERO TOE all these years. Whoever said to set the toe at 1/4 toe out IS ABSOLUTELY ON THE FU**ING MONEY

We always set our skis at 1/4" toe out, even our racers and it worked well. I do agree on speed loss but you can't have your cake and eat it to. Two questions 1- I missed the ski shimming thing and what does that ski-doo kit look like. Thanks, Mark. :4STroke:
