My buddy is an AC guy, and wants to buy an F7 baaaad. I know he's got to have the fastest sled, so if my Apex can take him, he's gonna be pissed.
How come they don't race the F7 at the shootout?

Ran an 03 F7 saturday with my box stock GT, the guy said it was clutched, but the motor was stock (who really knows though, right?). It was a pretty close race in 1000' This was in hardpack field, basically whoever gets the holeshot. Once the Ulmer clutching is installed, it shouldn't even be a race though.

Cool. So it sounds like they are a pretty even match. Should make for a lot of fun!

I just went out last night with a buddy of mine who has an 04 F7 and I had my GT. We lined up 3 times in an open field. He has an ODS clutch kit, 2 degree timing key and a fuel restrictor, with a 1" track no studs and I was completely stock, no studs. I beat him all 3 times, but not by much, the last time I got the hole shot and kept it all the way by 1 sled length. We raced to about a 100 mph because we ran out of room after that. My sled only has 55 miles on it now. It handles awesome and it rides better than my REV and that is pretty good for me to say that. It only pulled to 9800, I hope it does not take much more to start seeing 10,500 on the tach. My buddy thought they were pretty even, but I said, you are not totally stock and I'm am. We are both going to stud soon, and I will be getting a kit from Allen to even the playing field, I just want to get 300 miles on it first to see how it's runs stock. I believe once it gets loosened up and I clutch it, it should be a no contest. The Gt will rule.

Rotax,
I find strange that you don't see 10,500+ rpm. What elevation are u at?
My first 50 miles were done without studs and I could read 10,800 to 10,950. I've installed 144 studs and I now see 10,400 to 10,600 rpm. My elevation is 1,000'. I too will have clutch setup #2 from Ulmer.

I'm at 500ft. I live in Sault Ste Marie, Ont, right on Lake Superior. But, there are alot of other Apex's out there that don't seem to run the proper RPM's right out of the box.

Don't sweat it. My RX1 only reved at 10K until I hit about 1000 miles. I can't see why the Apex would be different. My Apex with 42 miles does the same thing.

Mine was dead even with an 05 F7 for the first 50 miles. 9500 rpms was all it would twist in short burts now it's over 10gs but I haven't run one since.
