Picking up my '09 Apex LTX GT mid Nov from dealership. Its been in for a couple of weeks but I asked to leave it in the crate until closer to snow on the ground.
I've done some reading here on the site and have picked up a few items(farkles) for the machine. Rear rack, rear tow hitch, console pads, higher windshield, marginal snow wheel kit and fourth wheel kit... all from Yamaha. From outside sources I've gotten Ulmers Stage 2 clutch kit and 162 Woody Gold Digger studs. Was considering the 13mm sway bar but want to try machine first. I weigh 170lbs so will be about 200 suited up.
I will be checking the suspension settings as per Yamaha specs in the Owners Manual... any other suggestions? A stud pattern to work with?
Ridden mostly Machs and MXZ X's so this will be different for me.

i used woodys single, double backer pattern for 136" track. worked great.
i would do the the sway bar, it does make a diiference, but it is an easey mod at any time.
get out there & ride it, need to know what your starting with !
take some time to dial it in, it's a different ride.. but it's awesome

Unless Yamaha updated their ski's, that would be one area I would adress. My 08 Apex LTX handled horribly.

I want to try machine first. I have the stock set of Ski Doo "Precision" dual carbides after I changed the color on the MXZ800X. If I don't like the stock maybe I'll try to install those.
As for sway bar, again want to try machine. I'd like to compare the difference between 12 & 13mm bars.
Thanks for the tips.

Talked to dealership about the handling and ski issue. Response re-enforced what's said here.. great machine however handling sucks because of skis. Since I'm studding machine, want the front to go where I point it too, not where track/studs will be pushing it... maybe into the toolies!! Was given a great deal on Simmons skis so went with those.

Just put machine in my garage to put accessories on tomorrow. Other than a Polaris Frontier, first time I cracked a throttle on a 4-stroke sled. Ummm not enough words to describe first impression.
Dealer told me I'd have to set suspension to my liking and 'play' with shock settings. They installed the Simmons skis so tomorrow its my turn. Probably start with the Stage 2 clutch kit. Studs haven't arrived yet... well they did but wrong ones.
I had a deck custom made for my Ford Ranger... it knows the machine is back there.
Sweet

Just found out the listed Yamaha tow hitch doesn't work on the '09LTXGT.... theres a rear cooler back there that wasn't there last few years. Had quite the 'discussion' with parts dept after I tried to install and then with service until I asked then to show me on the floor model. Yamaha Canada will be contacted next week by dealer.
Have to go completely thru machine suspension.... nothing was done apparently at PDI. As it came out of box, other than fluids and put on the Simmon ski's.... thats it. No biggy.... just have to do a lot of reading figuring out what does what.... used to the SC3/4 by Doo.

While you are going over the sled I suggest checking the coolant mix. My 08 and most sleds come with 100% antifreeze in the system. You will have overheating problems. You need a 60/40 mix.

Thanks for the coolant heads-up Phazernut. What part of CBS you at? I lived in Foxtrap for 3 years and had relatives in Paradise.

I lived on Pandora Drive.... must of been close. Download will be happening soon.
Just out putting on some accessories.... one being the fourth wheel for rear axle. Has anyone asked Yamaha what the #$%@ they were thinking when designing the track adjustment set-up?
