What does everyone think are the fastest stock sleds ever made? I would think the apex has to be pretty high on the list.

Thundercat 1000
Mach z 800
Mach z 1000
Apex
Srx700
Xcr 800

Are a few that I can think of off the top of my head that are triple digit runners out of the crate.

97 Vmax4 800 with the Slow action rear skid.... Fast lake runner!!!!!!!

Forget about the Apex or anything else introduced after the long travel suspension revolution. Even if they have got the engine, they are too high with too steep track to ground attack angle.

I would say this is between the Mach Z and Thundercat, with the SRX as a dark horse. I know people have had Mach Zs above 200 km/h in radar tests and I know my old 2000 SRX did 197 km/h in a radar test.

I saw this same thread on another site also, and as one guy on there said " are we talking quickest or fastest top end" quickest srx 700, fastest at the end 98 thunder cat. This is stock or just clutched only. If mod'ed, today's sleds can't be touched by the old ones. The gains you could get out of a well tuned, piped, ported, clutched, older thunder cat, srx, Mach z, or vmax4 though was truly amazing. To think we have to boost to catch some of these.

This is what needs to be clarified for a thread like this....for "top End" I would say the Thunder Cat, Mach Z, SRX 700, V-MAX 4 800 and XCR 800 would all post very respectable numbers....for "quickest" (assuming shorter races like 1000-1320" ) you have to include the F7 along with all the big dogs. I might even include it for top end...My stock 06 F7 with DD ran 114mph consistantly on radar and did it on hard pack, not a plowed ice track. Clutched/geared F7s will run 5-8 mph faster....they were over achievers for sure, just like the SRX 700...again my stock 99 ran 114 mph on radar...clutching and gearing made them a handful for the big 800s and T-Cat.

I owned both of these and they were top dogs back in their day. Thanks for bringing back some good memories! (except for trying to pull start the V-Max 4 at - 20 F)

In a straight line the vmax-4 and thundercat were fast. Get on a trail and neither one will touch an srx or mach-z. XCR 700 and 800's were quick too. XC 800's were the slowest big bore sled ive ever seen.
