Fault Code 88, what do u think????????

i bought a used 2007 phazer FX from a local dealer on saturday. less than 10 miles into my ride today it started to beep and both the drive and reverse button were lit up and it was flashing "88" on speedo. i see that it mean "short or open circuit in reverse indicator switch". my question is when i bought it they told me they were replacing a part in the for the reverse system. i bought the sled "AS IS" but am trying to figure out if something they did while replacing the part caused this fault to occur. it seems there might be a burnt wire or something that is causing this. does anyone have any suggestions? the dealer is closed now till tuesday. i hope to god i am now screwed and will have to pay big $$$$ to fix this. i rode it for 5 minutes at dealer before i left and it didnt pop up but then today, it happened. thanks
