First “realâ€Â￾ 121 miles – ecp and rear susp q’s

I live in Devils Lake and had the same problem last year with my sled with the same setup. Do you have have the rubber flap from you stock air box on. If not you may want to put it back on.

I think I have run into the same problem...I posted the HELP HELP HELP thread last week and thought it was due to water in my fuel but took the sled out Saturday and Sunday and noticed a few things. Saturday I had major problems....even had a float bowl stick open and was dripping fuel from the carb. Took the filters off and had a lot of ice and such...finally got the carbs to stop leaking. Ran in to intermittent problems all day. Sometimes it ran good, sometimes it would want to idle down and die. :o|

Sunday, I decided to open up the coolant line all the way (it was 90% closed) to heat the carbs when I started it and I ran all day Sunday and it never gave me 1 problem. So, I am thinking my carbs were icing up due to the increased airflow and lack of warm coolant. Maybe my sled only wants me to turn down the coolant when it gets really warm out.?

Hanny, I did put the flap back behind the filters. How's the snow up your way?

Trx, my issue wasn't the carbs freezing, but instead the filters. When we cleared the filters along the way, I ran for about 250 yards without the filters to be sure all the excess fuel was out of the carbs. Without the filters it ran much, much better than with the filters immediately before we cleared them. It seems most likely the carbs just weren't getting enough air to run past mid-rpm.

Mighty, I can only surmise the snow or at least moisture was getting through the prefilters and freezing in the filter. But, I'm not overly confident I had the prefilters snug around the filter on the bottom side, and will try putting the prefilters on the filters before intalling the filters next time, as there isn't much room to work underneath there with the filters on the rack.

JD, I do have the FRA set to max, and will give the main a couple more clicks. Just wondering if anyone found benefit from a heavier spring too.

Thanks for the help guys, keep it commin'. What about some 1/2" foam over the filters or under the center vents on the real snowy days, which a guy could shake out from time to time if necessary. Might restrict air flow a little, but not like a frozen filter. Or installing some pre-filter material in the vent openings? Looks like Yami has some versions of those for other models, but I don't see any offerings for the RX.

Sasq, thanks much for the spring info. I'll order it today. Only about the cost of two trips to the chiropractor. Did you pull the skid when changing the spring?

No one else froze up their filters in powder conditions and figure out a work around?

Hi. NDRX1, I'm from Fargo also, and also rode up north on Sunday. I have the ECP kit and buried it a couple of times, no freeze up problems, I modified the rubber flap a little so when it slides on it acually seals the prefilters a bit better. PM me if you want pics or to come over and see it. :4STroke:
