I can honestly say this is by for the best sled I have ever owned. I have only owned two before it, a 95 MXZ 583, and then an 02 Viper. I love the new rear suspension, and with the Simmons skis this thing is effortless to ride. I actually find myself zoning out cruising the trails at 40-60MPH!! I have to start talking to myself to stay alert! LOL
Anyway, I have a couple of questions for a newbie like myself.
I want to do the 500 mile oil and filter change now as I wont be able to do it at 500 miles, is this OK?
The clutch is starting to make a little noise, is this normal? Like a little rattle?
Does the clutch have to be adjusted after this 500 mile break in, and if so how difficult is it to do? I am fairly mechanically inclined, been rebuilding 2 stroke engines a long time, but not that much experience with clutches
Thanks for your help guys!

yes you can do an oil and filter change now, just use regular oil not synthetic, as the engine is still breaking in. as for the clutches, there is no initial servicing, but you can look them over to see if anything is loose. eg. nuts and bolts that hold rollers and weights in primary, as well as the 6 cover bolts. i doubt if these would be loose, but are easy to check. i think the noise you are hearing is the gear reduction from the engine, and thats normal. it can be reduced by turning up the idle to 1500 to 1600rpm.

I would change the oil and use the same semi-synthetic Yami oil it came with.
I also have an 05 ER, there is no comparison between this and the 03 ER I had a couple of years ago. I love this one, The ride is great.
Did you run it with the stock skis for a while or start out with the simons. The only complaint I have is it washes through the turns and tips a little more than I would like but much much better than my 03 after all the mods I had done. I was thinking of a 13mm bar and longer carbides.

OK, I will change the oil, here is another issue. I got two oils from Yammi. The dealership in the US sold me yamaha 5w30 4cw oil the canadian dealer sold me 0w30 4s oil. Both read that they are for 4 strokers but one says extreme weather synthetic (the 4s) the other says it has synthetic ingredient that help in extreme temsp (the 4cw). Which one should I use???
Red, I did not ride it with the stock skis, I put the simmons on day one as most experienced folks here said it was the way to go. My riding partner just bought a previously owned warrior with the stock skis. We each rode both sleds and both agree that the simmons is a much better overall ride, no darting, the sled goes where you want it all the time, and it is effortless to turn. The stock skis seemed verry unstable and loose?
Thanks for the help!

Your sled came with the new 0w30, I would stick with that.
I used doo precisions with my 03 and liked them as well. I was thinking of trying duelies this time.

I really like the dooly's on my Vector.. My wife and I were riding together -she was on a 700 V-max with shaper bars- And I was on the vector with the dooly's.. She was darting all over the trail. Mine straight as an arrow.. I will be putting the dooly's on hers next year.MM.
