Just back from Pittsburg, NH. Day1 found us breaking trail in 12 to 18" of powder. My RXW w/Simmons skis performed flawlessly! When we stopped the sled would pull out of the hole easily. By days end we were riding ungroomed trails that were broken and bumpy, the suspension was good to excellent (I'm 240lbs, rear set-up on H with 4 clicks to H). Day 2 brought groomed trails with a twist, ditches with running water! Seems the snow/rain/snow caused a ton of run off. The warrior really shined going through all the crap! My sled looked looked like an ATV at the end of the day! By the end of day 2 there were plenty of bumbs and dips. Again, the suspension was good to excellent. My comparision was last years XCXP800 Edge. Now for some bullet highs and lows:
Highs:
Excellent power
Awsome seat
Good to excellent Rear Suspension
Excellent Track (138, 1.325 Woody Golds, 2-3 pattern down the middle)
Simmons
Easy throttle pull
Lows:
Inside ski lift is still there
Steering (my arms are sore!)
Front suspension is fair
Reverse can be tough to engage at times
My boots barely fit in (though they are large, but warm)
Racheting (I'm sure with track adjustment this will get resolved)
Overall, this sled is an achievement. I hopefull the lows can be fine tuned a bit. I'm not aware of a perfect sled, but this come close!
Sorry for the long winded post, your comments are appreciated!

a good way to solve your sticky reverse problem is to switch your chaincase oil to the best fully synthetic availiable. i did this and it will solve the problem immediatly, unless you have actual mechanical misadjustment or damage.

The ratcheting is easily removed with track adjustment!!

Ridgerunner, was that you we came across late Friday afternoon, 2 guys on red/silver Warriors on Rt 120 / Rt 5 intersection? I was the blue Warrior with a mixed pack of younger Cat / Doo / Poo riders.
It was my first real ride of the season (200+ lb rider, 6'2").
I'm not impressed with the stock skis or setup. Compared to my old 98 VMAX 700 XTC there was bad ski lift (it had the SLP SLTs on) with a lot of front end push.
In the deeper snow, the front end buried itself a few times that we had to dig out, and flotation was pretty bad. Admittedly I'm much more a groomed trail rider, so maybe my technique could use a few upgrades.
My first ride of the season, and was pretty sore with getting the sled unstuck a few times and the heavy skis.
Not too sure whether to go with the Simmons or with the SLP SLTs. The SLTs on my old sled lightened up the steering and improved tracking / reduced darting tremendously.
Highs:
- Rear suspension much more comfortable than expected.
- Traction better than any 121" sled I have ridden
- Quieter motor, reasonably smooth, good power
- Good saddle / hand warmers
Lows:
- Break in sucks
- Push in corners: really bad on ungroomed snow, not good on packed treails
- Difficult to break rear loose with either brake or throttle to set up for corners
- Darting: the SLT-equipped 700 had no darting at all
- Screen too low
- Bottomed the rear a few times (but the bumps and waterbars were bad)
- Lack of storage
- Throttle more uncomfortable than my old 700.
- Heavy to get unstuck

tshelver,
It's me, AGAIN, your old nemesis
For my recommendation, go with the Simmons. I don't have them on my RX-1 shorty (yet) but I DO have them on my '02 Viper ER. WHAT a difference!!! Cornering; flotation; everything improved dramatically. And the stock viper skis weren't exactly horrible to begin with.
Just my $.02

I would try and find someone with both styles , know a lot or riders switching from simmons to the slp powder pros , especially if you get off trail very much.

I agree, the Simmons are great in the snow but if you stay on the groomed trails I prefer the stock skis with the dooly carbides.

tshelver, that was me! Not too many sleds up there on Friday, especially 2 RXWLEs together. I really like the Simmons. Unlike the poo precisions, there are not many Simmons around here. This means few Simmons tracks which is really the only way they dart. If your concerned about trail performance, buy the Shaper Bar 6" carbide replacements, they'll turn on a dime. Your rear suspension is so easy to adjust, it takes under a minute. I suggest setting the rear suspension in the H position (factory is the M position). You can adjust the clicker from there. Cobra makes a nice add on to your windsheild that adds up to 3" for less than $50. I guess we just tinker with the rest.

Ridgerunner and everybody, thanks. I'm probably going to go with a different ski solution, as I have some ungroomed land to cross to get to the trail, and I'm not too impressed with the stock ski's flotation.
Looks like we should get together a NH Warrior / RX1 ride sometime, seem to be a fair number of RX's around. Boston on this forum also rides in NH.
I live in the Lakes region, and mostly ride around the Moultonboro / Sandwich / Holderness / Winnepesaukee area (when conditions permit), as well as Colebrook / Diamond Pond / Pittsburg and Rangeley, ME.
Right now I've got some damage to the left A-arm, hit a hidden stump late on Friday.

Just got back from Canada, was up there for two full days of riding, and I put 460 miles on my Warrior. This sled really shines on those groomed high speed trails, it likes to go fast! Did about 60 miles of ungroomed trails and traction was much better than my old 99 700 V Max. And did about 100 miles on bumpy trails and the ride was better than I've ever experienced!
I did make a change to the rear; changed rear shock location to soft, and turned the clicker 6 turns more towards soft, it's softer, but I notice a noise every once in a while going slow. I'm going to put the shock back to the middle position.
Strong engine ( sounds like a jet, when it's cranking!)
Good accleration
Good traction
Good gas mileage
Nice ride
High speed stability
Good top end (Keeps pulling)
Get use to the engine braking and you'll never have to replace your brakes!
Sled is on the heavy side, you have to get use to it!
Hard starting when hot
Pushes when you give it too much throttle on corners
Reverse is sometimes hard to engage
Hand warmers take a while to warm up

Bob,
One quick question about the hard starting when hot. Do you give it any throttle at all? I've never had an issue getting my RX-1 started right off even when hot. As a holdover from the days of my 98 SRX though, I always crack the throttle just a little before hitting the switch and she fires right off. Only ever fouled a plug when cold, too.

Thanks Buddah2, I did do that! It was the only way it would start!
