2008 Yamaha Apex LTX
Hello everyone! New to the site and just recently bought my first yamaha 2008 Apex LTX with 8000km. Just wondering what I should go over and inspect before the up coming season. Thanks :)

Pull the skid and check for wear or broken part (w-arm), pull the speedo off and secondary off and repack the bearings. Check for play in the a - arms (may need new bushings) and play in the handlebars too. Change the oil and ride.

Do the exhaust donut check plug the exhaust with your hands and gloves on if sled completely stalls you are good. If she doesnt stall replace donuts with copper ones better to do it now before the stainless y pipe blows apart like mine did. 700$ fix if that happens... invest in a yamaheater warm hands controller. It is a ittle pricey but honestly worth it! Does it have studs? Are they down the center check to see if they are rubbing on the islet on the shock if they are get a track rub eliminator kit from ulmer racing if not you are good to go.

If your sled doesnt already have dual runner carbides invest in some snowtrackers as well you won't regret that one either.

The wearing down of the shock wont be an issue on your sled as its an LTX. The large rear wheels mounted in the tunnel prevents this type of wear like the 121 sleds get.

Many things to go over if you want the sled tip top shape. Many good points have been mentioned above.
Check all bearings and pivot points. Clean, inspect and grease or replace. Change oil in the chaincase and inspect chain slack.
Clean and inspect clutches. Check belt. Check the "sag" or "sit in" of the rear spring and adjust for your weight. Check transfer rod and adjust as well if need be.
