First off, THANK YOU.... This is the most amazing maching I have ever ridden. I still cant believe the suspension, and I havent even attempted to dial it in yet. I just set all of the clickers on medium. All I have ever owned is Artcic cat, most recently a 2006 Crossfire 700. I use to to have to try and "go around" the whoops and stutter bumps. I'm still in awe as I type this, that I just aimed my new XTX right down the middle of the whoops and didnt even have to stand up! This machine is unbelievable!
Of course the engine is great and very smooth, but I kind of expected that.
I do have a question. I've only put 80 miles on it and rode in mostly 1' of powder, breaking trail. I noticed that my belt seems to be slipping/ plusating quite a bit on start up. I did smell burning belt a few times too. I looked and everything seems to be in order, I may try and scotch pad the clutch faces as they seemed quite shiny. I'm just wondering, maybe this is normal? Also I looked and the alignmengt looks good.
Any comments would be appreciated, Thanks.

I got a new XTX about a month ago and noticed the same thing concerning the belt giving off a burning smell. I haven't noticed mine slipping or "pulsating" though. I've got over 800 miles on it now, and it seems to be getting better - not 100% for sure but it seems like it anyway.

drill out the aluminum rivets on the primary weights, these are the ones closest to the pins(the heal) and replace with 2.4 gram steels. Ads about 1.5-2 grams weight in the heal which gives much better belt grip down low, no more slipping belt down low and no negative effects besides. Cost you about $3 and 15-20 minutes of your time.

Im not ready to do the rivit thing, plus I dont want to mess with possibily voiding my warranty. Is that what the reason is Justinator? not enough weight engaging the clutch? Anyone have any other input?
Thanks....
Thanks....

Changing clutching won,t void warranty...if anything it will help the primary clutch live longer. stock clutching slips the belt badly at engagement.
A heavier inner rivet will make the primary grip the belt harder at engagement. I used smaller rollers; which also lower engagement but heavier rivets will just make engagement smoother.

$260 at supertorquer and get the drag n fly weights. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. No belt slippage, better engagement, and the backshift is excellent. It's worth every single penny for that kit and only takes about 1-2 hrs to complete.

dont be afraid at all,i put in a b-p-b primary spring, replaced the aluminum rivet(.85g) in the weight with a 2.44g rivet and set the secondary spring wind down to 60 from the stock 70,sled pulls harder out of the hole, lowers the engagement so no herky jerky and pulled a 108 on groomed trails with an rpm of 8700-8750,it dropped my 50mph cruising rpm from 6500 down to about 5900,no more slipping the belt when trying to load it on the trailer or turn slow around ,sled only has 300 miles so as it gets stronger i might have to load it down some more

It's really noticeable when boondocking though the tight trees. I burned a belt doing that
I ride at 3000'-6500' elevation, so I have to run less weight in the primary. Since top end speed dosn't matter that much to me, I geared down to 20/40 which helps a lot.
Also I'm going to try smaller rollers as Turk mentioned. I have some 14.5 rollers that I,m going to try, in order to get more belt pinch. They did bring the engagement down to 3700 rpm from the 3900-4000 rpm it had before. Which should be better for boondocking.
Probably will have to pull a little more weight out of the primary because of the smaller rollers. Not sure how much yet, untill I get it out on the snow and try it.

Once again you guys are coming through. Thanks so much for all of the info. I guess I'll start with the rivits like justinator suggested. It will be a good summer project.
Thanks again!

Yes I did it within the first 100 miles of owning the sled. Cheap and easy and works great. Made it a much smoother sled with improved performance on the holeshot. Much better boondocker now.

600 MILES IN THE U.P. IN 4 DAYS
Well guys I really got to break in the XTX. On Friday we rode from Munising to Houghton/ Hancock and stayed the night, then rode up to Copper Harbor the next day (Saturday) and boondocked the whole area. On Sunday we rode down to Mass City then Back to Munising.
Again, I can not say enough how great this thing handles. If anyone is considering buying one, do it, you will not be disapointed. I was very skeptical at first (rode only AC for years) and am mad that I waited so long.
The only thing I need to do is get some good floating skis, fix the hand warmers and add the skid plate and A- arm protectors.
Shoot, almost forgot to tell you the best part of the trip. My riding buddy (hardcore AC guy) was due for a new sled so I let him ride my XTX for a good part of the day Friday and Saturday. He was riding an 03 AC Firecat 700 that was old and busted so we went sled shopping at M&M powersports in Houghton, by Saturday night he was convinced..... and got a brand new white XTX from M&M!!!! My mission now is to spread the word and "convert" as many AC guys as I can!!! Artic Cat
Thanks again.
