March bump!
Just installed these. So much nicer than the Philips screws.

Gonna hafta go into my 1999 600 Deluxe Vmax carbs. Triple with the red head,NPV. Are the older screws, to your knowledge, M4x 12 mm? Thanx RR I just hope I can crack the old ones loose!
These are a must have if you have carbs on your sled, bike or ATV. No fuss taking them off or on.

I personally go back wrenching on Yamaha as far as a 93 Exciter SX and it had the same screws. You will be fine with the 99. If you're replacing the Phillips anyway, you can cut a slot in the head with a dremel tool with a cut off wheel and use a flat screwdriver in that, if you mess up the phillips head.

Crewchief, thanks for the info. Making firewood now, will get into the carbs when it starts raining here.

I haven't sourced any direct replacements as of yet. I've seen some custom carb caps made of aluminium out there for the boost guys that look to use a more common fastener. I may look into caps instead.
I have the alu carb caps for boost from stm, they still use the screw with the shoulder. Too bad that made it with that big of hole. Need to find a buddy that can make a little bushing & then use a normal allen screw.

Problem with the bushing would be the chance of dropping it....hmmmmmmmmmm I'm going to have to go down to Dad's sled and pillage some parts for the summer.

Awesome - I was just thinking last fall when I barely managed to get the phillips head screws out to clean out the pilot jets - about doing the allen head changeover - reading this thread reminded me - so I've placed my order. I have an '05 Vector - first 3 years no issues, now evey season seems to start off with plugged pilot jets - crap gas I guess - and I always drain the bowls in the Spring too.

Red, It turns out the RX and Rs use different carb caps, wasn't aware of this. I'm going to have to get a look at an RX before I go any further.
