For you people with a Y.E.S. Warranty?

First let me say after doing a search, I know this has been hashed to death. But, I still have a question.

Has anyone used their extended warranty?

I purchased an 04 early this year and only have 600 miles on the clock. So trying to decide if I should shell out the $500 for the Y.E.S. coverage or not. My dealer told me to save the money. He thinks that I should not need the warranty. On the other hand, I am not one for trading a sled every other year either. I have a 97 XT with 9,000 miles on the clock that I was still running up to the 04 purchase. That sled came with a 3 year warranty that I did use after it caught a ring. I would say that I am planning on keeping the sled for at least 4 or more years.

the yes warranty is only as good as the dealer your working with. I also had some sleds with the 3 year warratny and i didi use it. I purchased a 5 year yes for my 04 warrior and am glad i did it but i havent needed it yet. Just think of what it will cost if you need to go into that motor.

Hookman, I have the YES warranty and I am taking in my 03 RX-1 this Friday to have the TORS switch looked at and have that jackshaft bearing replaced. I will not be spending a dime with the dealer because they said it would all be covered. This warranty has paid for itself just with taking it in only twice. If for nothing else, it sure is peace of mind knowing that whenever something could go wrong while on a long trip or something, at least you know the sled will be fixed for free under warranty. Thats why I got mine. By the way, I paid $650.00 for mine 2 years ago.

You've got a good dealer if you're not paying for this. It says right on the warranty form that bearings are not covered (if I remember correctly).

WHAT ALLOT OF PEOPLE DONT UNDERSTAND THAT IF YOU BUY IT AND THEN SELL THE SLED 2 YEARS FROM NOW YOU CAN GET 1/2 MONEY BACK,tHEY WILLL REFUND YOU FOR THE UNUSED PORTION. ALSO MAKES A USED SLED EASY TO SELL IF YOU TRANSFERE IT TO THE NEW OWNER.

I had 5 years YES warranty last year the motor blew pistons rods case crankshaft etc and so on about 5,000 dollars with labor and the fact that the rod hit my front heat exchanger and put a hole in that to I paid nothihng Dealer was excellent. Yamaha took care of me. I would always buy from Woodys in Topsham Maine and get a yamaha and get the warranty now

I have the 4 year YES warranty too. Can't go wrong with it...I paid $600 for mine on Ebay, buying it from a dealer in Wisconsin (no NY sales tax) and it can be used at any Yammie dealer. Had mine in for the jackshaft bearing too...it was covered, otherwise it would've cost me $170. You can get the unused portion refunded or you can sell it with a year or two left and make your sled quite marketable, as others have mentioned.

Check out Ebay for YES warranties. Great prices.

Also, your YES warranty does not directly cover you north of the border, if you ride in Canada.

Hookman,
I've purchased extended warranty on each sled since 2001, found it really helps selling the sled, Also for me it follows Murphy's Law: 'If you don't get it you'll need it, and if you get it then you'll never use it!' I would much rather get it & not need it than tempting fate & not having it.
