fox floats question for the 2008 nytro fx

will floats off a 2007 nytro fit a 2008 nytro fx? thanks for any help.

fox shocks

i don't know if they will work but i do know that the piggyback shocks that come stock got a better rating than the float in a snowmobile rating magazene. i am sure i will get harrassed for that statement but it is true they said they rated them as good if not better than the float shocks and i am not making this up.

Why would you get harassed for your statement? this isn't HCS and plus I think you will find 7/10 guys don't like the 1st gen floats

I'd check with Fox for an application reference (800-369-7469). I believe the FX Nytro Float free length is 17" center-to-center at the mounting holes.

The '07 Nytro is on the Apex chassis, right? Those use 16.5". That piece I'm sure of. The newer chassis uses longer for sure, but how much longer I'm not positive, maybe something like 17.5"?

'07 Nytro is NOT in the Apex/Attak chassis.

'06-07 Nytros were in the Deltabox I chassis, same as the RX-1/RX-Warrior. As were the '05-'09 Vectors.

Apex/Attak/ New Vector are all in the Deltabox II chassis.

I'm sure the shocks will fit. You may gain or lose 1" of travel though.

RS Vector Nitro Bad Boy 06 and newer is a DB2 sled, it has the same Delta frame around the engine bay, the same steering column, riser and handlebars, the same front A-arms and spindle as the 06 and newer Apexes and Attacks, a tall seat.

Extended length = 443 mm (17.44")
Stroke = 144 mm (5.67")
Compressed length = 299 mm (11.77")

2005-current RS Vector shorties, RS Vector LTX, RS Rage and Nytro:
Extended length = 419 mm (16.50")
Stroke = 135 mm (5.31")
Compressed length = 284 mm (11.18")

2006-current Apex shorties, Apex LTX and Attak:
Extended length = 419 mm (16.50")
Stroke = 135 mm (5.31")
Compressed length = 284 mm (11.18")

2007-current Phazer shorties:
Extended length = 404 mm (15.91")
Stroke = 125 mm (4.92")
Compressed length = 279 mm (10.98")

2008-current FX Nytro shorties and FX Nytro XTX:
Extended length = 445 mm (17.52")
Stroke = 137 mm (5.39")
Compressed length = 308 mm (12.13")

Please note that when swapping shocks between different models, the extended length is not the only measurement of importance. Please also consider the compressed length. A front end that is designed for a shock with a longer compressed length does not necessarily handle a shock with a shorter compressed length. For instance, the maximum angle of the A-arm and steering rod ball joints might be exceeded and interference problems between A-arms, steering rods and other chassis parts might occur. Or, you will simply bottom out your belly pan...

Have you taken any center and rear shock measurements of Nytro RTX vs. Nytro XTX? Are they interchangeable?

From the same source:

RTX vs XTX center shock:
Extended length = 327 mm vs 339.5 mm
Stroke = 87 mm vs 99.5 mm
Compressed length = 240 mm vs 240 mm

RTX vs XTX rear shock:
Extended length = 425.5 mm vs 429.5 mm
Stroke = 139.5 mm vs 145.5 mm
Compressed length = 286 mm vs 284 mm

As you can see, the XTX shocks have got longer extended length and longer stroke, but the compressed lengths are very similar. This usually means that the longer shock can be modified to have the same extended length and stroke as the shorter shock by installing internal spacers. Unfortunately, this does not necessarily work the other way around.
Also, the cylinder head designs of the center shocks are identical and the cylinder head designs of the rear shocks are at least similar.
