So is it worth the investment to run the air shocks up front? I know there is a considerable weight difference but do they perform better? I can get a pair for around $400. Does the rear skid use a float?

What shocks are on yours now? Do you plan on Jumping it and 3ft Mogul bashing? No airshock is used in the rear suspension.

I have the FX so just the coil overs with reservoirs. My buddy (the guy with the lathe) rebuilds shocks and he showed me the weight difference between the two types. Just wondering if there was a noticeable difference between the two. Riding is 70% trail but every now and then I like to launch it.

Those are the Soqi shocks. They are nice shocks. They are a pain to refresh or rebuild though. I have them on mine using dual spring setup. Main spring is a higher rate than stock and the other is almost a tender spring very low rate. They work awesome and offer way more adjustability with the clickers than the Floats. I would keep them. When tuning them the rebound must be adjusted first and it is very sensitive if you get it right you will be very happy. Hygear provided the mainspring and the tender/second spring is off a Polaris Predator rear shock. I made the crossovers on Lathe. Oil in them is Amsoil 5wt. Stock valving.

Good to hear. Thats a pretty cool set up. Nice soft initial spring rate for the hash smaller chop. Did you do a thread on this? I need some parts for the springs.

I'd like to know as well.
Just put Float 3's on mine. And......well......I'm just not happy.
I took apart an old set of triple rate Elkas I have from my race quad and wanted to do a dual rate on my stockers with a rebuild.
I have a very good feeling this would be the ultimate set up for all around riding and drift busting adventures.

What's wrong with the float 3s? There suppose to be a very good shock. Can't imagine what you paid for them.

I'm waiting for my Floats to come back from Hygear. Bought them used with their reserviors on them. They should be substantially better than the stock base model shocks. Any ideas on where to start with air pressure?

There great in the chattery stuff. SOak everything up no problem.
Main issue i'm having is the kick I get from them. There's no rebound setting.
Everytime I hit a hard drift it pogo's the front end up hard. I guess i'm used to my stockers that would not kick so hard. But they were very bumpy in the chattery stuff.
Seems like at 70-85psi they sit to low and bottom out hitting things giving me the kick.
And at 85-110 there too hard and kind of do the same thing but the ride height is better.
Hit a hard drift at speed with one ski and it kicks hard. I guess i'm just not used to it i dunno but it's leaving my mojo at home and you can't have that in when your out. Hit a jump, I guess was not even, and it put me sideways in the air. Luckily the panic rev and downward slop to the left saved me.
Cornering in the twisties, nothing but tippy no matter how I lay into the corner. Used to rail them powersliding at the apex.
In the process of moving the skid around, playing with settings ect. I'm hoping to dial them in soon.
I'm in the mindset with the front end lower, there's more ski pressure. So i've put the strap on 2nd from top, torsion on Medium, rebound on rear shock (rebuild/revalved) at 11 clicks and i'll adjust the fronts from there. If that dont work, i'll lift the skid into the 2nd hole from the bottom strap and try that. Thought I had it figured out last season

Cancel everything I said.
Embarrassed as heck to post this but don't want to ruin your quest for Fox's.
I DID NOT LIFT FRONT END OFF GROUND to set presssure. About to head our for a test/tune ride. Saw a post last night about taking all the weight off to set pressure.
I was acutally at 45.
Let the ribbing begin..........
To defend myself, in the last 8000kms i've put on I get on and ride, it's a Yamaha after all

That's just too funny and you just did that huge thread. Good thing you didn't give up on them but I would have been the first in line to take them off your hands.

My Viper Float 3's are at 60 PSI (with front end up) Plush ride and no bottoming. Work well.

Remember always fill the EVO(small res) first and run it about 20 psi higher than main chamber. I would try 80 in evo and 60 in main. If you are bigger than my 145lbs go a bit more and adjust both 5psi at a time till you get close.

Embarrassing but I kept at them yesterday.
Does anyone know if there was a write up on cannons dual rate stock set up?

I should probably note that these are the Hygear piggy-backs and not the EVO. I believe they only add volume to the shock.
