The rear shock on my XTX, rebuilt over this past summer along with the center shock, looks to be leaking orange fluid from the clicker area. Skid is still off the sled, sitting on the bench and I noticed this yesterday. I put something under it to see if there would be an accumulation & there is about a dime size amount from sitting overnight in an unheated garage. Have an email into the place that did the rebuild, but wanted to run it by TY. Send it back in? That can't be a normal/good thing, right? Thanks for any input!

Is it oil or an assembly lube. I build shocks for dirt modifieds and find a lot of guys thinking grease on shaft from assembly lube is oil leaking.

Based on your description it sounds like it is dripping. If thats the case I think you gotta get it fixed. It will only be a matter of time before it fails completely. If your skid is already out, you couldnt ask for better timing. MS

It looks like orange oil/fluid to me, and I didn't notice any lube on the shock body/shaft when I got the shock back a few months ago... and it was forming droplets on the clicker knob when I discovered it. Thing is, I am pretty sure there was no leakage until a few days ago when I heated the garage up to work on some stuff, although I really wasn't watching for something like this. Still waiting to hear back from where I got it rebuilt. Thanks for the input so far, much appreciated.

Not sure if you tried this, but wipe the shock down and place a dry paper towel underneath. Leave it overnight and if there are marks on the papertowel it will give you an idea how fast its leaking oil.
Also, behind the adjuster screw, there is an o-ring that can get twisted, pinched etc, when they re assemble. If its compromised the shock is headed for failure. MS

Shock is on its way in to be serviced. I did put something underneath it the first night I discovered the leak to try to gauge how much was coming out, and it did help to show that it was leaking pretty good as you could see the progression of the leak each day.

Sucky issue. Thought you were saying you had oil on the shaft. The assembly line isn't coated on to be noticeable but as the shock works a little you will get a hazy coating on the shaft sometimes
