I have a friend that is looking at an 09 MTX with 1000 miles on it. Is there anything we should be looking for as far as normal wear items or yamaha deficiencies that we should be aware of?
i would check the back supsension and the chassie overall. The engine is bulletproof, but the track is useless.

Check the front subframe for any tweeks, etc. other than that if it runs good and looks good, go for it. (imho)

An easy way to check for front end damage is to look sideways at the skis and check if one is farther back than the other. Thats a dead giveaway of a hard hit. And it's very common.
