Use the search feature, this has been covered almost once a week for the last 6 months. Lots of great info to read.

back on topic, problem is they are not really ball joints (like atutomotive style) w/ rubber seals w/ a supply of lube inside.
They are open spherical rod end bearings. Put a drop of 30 or 20w 50 wt oil on them each day you ride and your next set will last a lot longer.

I am at the end of life of my third set (two sets supplied by warranty). I have been lubricating the two last sets vs. no lubrication on the first set, but I can not say that I notice any difference at all.Tork said:Put a drop of 30 or 20w 50 wt oil on them each day you ride and your next set will last a lot longer.
If you do rough trail riding you get maximum 1000 kilometers out of a set, then the liner falls apart and the free play becomes like 2-3 millimeters.
Anyway, I have had no problems getting them replaced by warranty and when there is no more warranty I will install a set of SKF race car bearings (the required spacers FINALLY arrived from anodizing...).
If you want a set that will last call Gueco Racing at (907) 694-1600 and ask for Danny. My stock ball joints were junk at 800 miles. My new, improved greasable ball joints at 1700+ miles and two XC races later are still tight.
