Had over 5500 miles on original slides. Always ran track to 1 in sag in middle of rails. Changed hyfax 700 miles ago( Red) set track to same 1 inch of sag. Ran in low conditions last time out. still looked OK finished ride knowing I would have to change or at least check....... Jacked sled up yesterday and bend was still showing some red hyfax on side but middle was gone down to metal. Removed to replace hyfax and rail bend is missing about 3-4 inches of material. Never seen this before. My mistake for setting the track tension in 50 degree weather than riding in real cold weather and low conditions.
Sucks has new rails and even used rails are $$$$$$$

I put the original hyfax back on, slide over the bend fine even though there is material missing to hopefully get one more ride in this season and pull skid and replace this summer! Here is a pic, Do you guys think I am ok to run like this for now?
I just hate it when I f.... up!

Run it.

The rails are already fukced....

Well, you can't make it any worse. I don't think it has something to do with the temperature you set the track at. I think it might have something to do with the colouring. This was discussed here:
http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... ite+slides

you'll notice the wear was at the same place as yours. A low snow wheel kit at that spot would help but for this season, ride it.

just replaced slides on my buddy s xtx the same thing the front rails where wore so bad the sides that hold the slide on the rail where gone. we put new slides on and seems to be fine after 550km.

His slides looked exactly like yours only black.

should be fine just keep an eye on it.

That's what I figured as the rails are toast already! Yes my sides that hold the slides on are gone also, maybe 2-3 inches in the bend above is still good along with the reast of the rail. Track clips look and feel fine. I have ordered new black slides for next year after I replace the rails. Probably no riding left anyway.
Thanks Guys ;)!

Get the small wheel kit for your skid. Its mounts right where the bend is and should take care of the rail hyfax/rail issue.

I had the small wheel kit on my RX1. Wheels were junk, bearings were junk. Maybe they are better now?
Thanks Guys ;)!

A buddy of mine wore his slidders down in under 200 miles on his 2011 XTX!!!!!! Put on a set of the Dupont sliders & has no wear after 600 miles! Mine have about 1300 milles with zero wear as well!Another buddy has over 2500 miles on them & still going strong!!
Worth the extra $$$!

Approach angle for the powder will be awesome now!!
Sorry I had to. So guys on the Attak if you run the track a bit on the tight side will it help with wear in this area. I know on my '07 RTX (CK twin shock) it was wearing up here until I cranked the tension down a bit. Also I had to as the track will ratchet so bad if I leave any sag in it. As a result all of my wear is in the back. Just curious.

I put the polaris wheels on my apex and they took care of the hyrax prob

Have over 3000 miles on my small wheel kit. I guess they are better now.

Had same problem just put new slides on take hack saw cut slots were they bend to help make the bend easier as it is hard to get through worn spot ran mine 5000 mi with no problem

Thanks AK Yammy, you really know how to make a guy feel better... :jump: :jump: I hear ya guys, I put the original black ones back on and you can't even tell. Still going to replace this summer 6200 miles so need to take rear skid out any way and clean up , maybe powder coat , get shock redone......
Ripped her around the yard as the snow is going fast... all good!
Blue ;)!

I just lost one of my small wheels from the low snow set after about 7300Km on that set. They have to be cleaned and regreased every year. This is the first year that I put 2000Km in a season and the original bearing just let go. So now I just have to replace that wheel and probably the bearing in the other one. Oh, the slides also last as long as the wheels did.
