Front Heat Exchanger

So how hard is it to replace a front heat exchanger on my 2006 Attak? Must have put a rock into on the railroad bed this weekend. It is at the top of the exchanger so tipped the sled on its side got it all cleaned up, JB welded it. it held for about 60 miles now it is leaking slowly again. Any info much appreciated!

Its a big job but it can be done withou pulling the motor but you will have to remove the lower bulkhead pan... its not easy. I have seen the welded or repaired on the sled.

Ok, I got the track out today and I scraped off the JB Weld I had temporaly put on. I found the hole looks like the tip of a stud hit it so not to big. If I clean it up really good will JB Weld hold?

Go to a Fastenal or similar type place. They have better products just for this. Jb weld is OK, but there's better.

I wouldn't roll the dice on your motor, bite the bullet and find someone to tig weld it up for you on the sled. A buddy of mine had the same thing happen, brought his sled to the guy's shop and he welded it up right on the sled. not worth the chance IMO
