FRONT SHOCKS: FOX FLOATS or HPG PIGGYBACK?

I currently have a 2006 Yamaha Apex RTX with FOX Float Shocks. I just bought a 2007 APEX GT Which has the HPG Clicker Piggyback shocks on the front. I am going to sell my 2006 APEX RTX. Should I keep the HPG Piggyback Clicker shocks which come standard on the 2007 APEX GT, or should I swap shocks and put the Fox Float Shocks on the Apex GT. What do you Guys like better, The HPG Piggyback or the Fox Float shocks? I am a semi- aggresive trail rider. Thanks for your opinions.

You'll need either revalved, so no advantage there. I found the Floats need an air resi for my riding style, so that may be an expense as well.

Just keep in mind that the clickers change the valving across the board. They are not high or low speed sensitive. Once the shocks are properly valved, you either won't use the clickers, or if you do, it will only be temporarily. Trying to use them to dial in the shock is pretty much a complete waste compared to having the shocks properly valved to start with. There's no comparison in ride quality.

I spend a lot of time dinking around with my suspesnion, and have found that being able to change the front ride height, without owning a collection of springs, to be an invaluable tool. FWIW

I think the piggy backs are awsome.. I had my rebuilt (just new fluid) at 7000 miles on them..

I dont think they need revalving.. they work awsome..

The floats have a problem.. THey need air.. Air controls the ride height and how stiff they are.. You cant increase the stiffness without increasing the ride height which can make the sled tippy.

Actually, you can. An adjustable volume air resi works just fine for this application.

As mentioned, the Float shock calibration from Yammi sucks. They work great with just minor TLC though....

Floats all the way.
Got on my RX and Attak. Never bottom out a shock again. Pounding mougles with the attak the Floats just nevered gave up. Oh and a little less weight,


On th RX I was able to drop the sway bar. Used for boonin not trails.

x2 floats all the way. i dont know what trails these other guys are runnin, but here the trails are always pounded. i came off of a custom sno-pro with fox remotes all the way around to my apex with floats. the floats are amazing and hardly ever bottom. every time i think im gonna eat a bad hole my floats gobble it up. my sled amazes the rev guys when i keep up and i dont really beat my sled hard. KEEP THE FLOATS. yamaha put them on the rough trail chassis for a reason.
