Does anyone have a fix or an explanation as to why there is so much frost build up in the gauge module on the RXW ? I have not been able to see the speedo for the better part of this season. I have been riding in mostly sub-zero temps but hey, it's snowmobiling, it's suppose to be cold! I have 2 friends that also have RXW's experiencing the same problems. My apologies upfront if this has been asked and answered. I don't get to this site as much as I would like to.
Thanks All!

I have the same problem I called the dealer they haven't gotten back to me yet but I have been hearing alot about this so I took matters into my own hands. there is a rubber boot on the wire harness that is not installed right I was changing my windshield so it was easy to get at you might be able to do it without removing any thing, it's like the boot is inside out and you just have to roll it over the plug and onto the back of the bezel very easy to do, if you have to remove the windshield it's not a big deal.

Also get it defrosted first or all the condensation will have no where to go.

here is the deal guys...mine dont frost....whats happening and this happens on the vipers sometimes as well...the boot slips off the housing were it plugs into the guage....you need to make sure thats on good...steam from the motor being hot rises into that area and will condense on the lens.

Put a light coat of Griz grease on the boot as well when installing it.

frosty gauges
I was just at the dealer. I asked about the gauges and was told to take the gauge off the sled, it should come off with a few screws. when you get it off the sled I was told you can see through a crack around the plug. it is not just the plug but the case around the plug area. I was told to take the gauge apart and use a hair dryer to make sure it is dry. and you can gently clean the lens with only water to remove streaks. put it back together and use some rtv sealer to seal the opening around the plug area. use some electrical grease on the plug and you should be set. I was told this is not hard to do. There was a customer that told me ski-doo is putting a small silicone pack like the ones you find in shoe boxes, they put it in the gauge cluster before they seal it up to take care of tghe moisture. The dealer said that would be good also to ensure you dont get any moisture. They have had great luck with just sealing the gauges. I was told after you take the gauge off you can see right in to the electrical part of the gauge, and that is what you need to seal.

I have the 03 RX 1 & have had this fogging/frosting of gauge problem since new. We have tried all methods to prevent this from happening & to no avail. I am on my 2nd gauge ( replaced on warranty) & it does the same thing. On a few of the gauges the rubber grommet was not fully fitted to the gauge, but on most of them there is a defect in the double lens which allows condensation to enter and freeze in very cold temperature. On the rear of the gauge you will notice that there are 3 small one way air vents which are to allow the condensation to evaporate from the engine heat- this does not happen because the moisture is between the double lenses. I am told that this problem originated with the 02 Viper gauge , where up to one third of the gauges were replaced on warranty.

Took mine back to the dealer and they replaced the front bezel and sealed the back around the harness. Said if this doesn't work they will replace the whole thing.
