Had the battery freeze on a 2002 sxr 600 last weekend. The headlight seemed to get dimmer and the hand warmers would not work, is there any connection between these problems and the frozen battery?

Your juice is getting sucked by a frozen/dead battery. That means less power for the headlight and heaters. When frozen, the battery is GARBAGE. Change it or disconnect it.

A battery won't freeze unless it is dead. Could be that you were not charging it enough. Once you install the new battery, test the voltage to ensure it is getting a good charge. Also, start with the battery fully charged. A lot of these sleds will not fully charge a partially charged new battery.
I know that some here have researched batteries for the RX1. I would like to know what is the strongest battery available for the RX. I do not care about weight, I just want it to work.
I was running between Sudbury and Cockrane about 10 days ago and had to jump my 05RX1 4 days in a row. It is a new stock battery fully charged. I never had these problems with my 03, and I had it out in -60 weather.

The strongest battery is a stock 03 battery. That battery will crank a frozen bulldozer to life. Later years they wimped out the battery to save weight.
Thanks LB, I thought that was the case, but I remember guys looking at gel cell batteries and wasn't sure if there was a strong one as well as the light and smaller ones.
I have asked my dealer to replace the 2 month old battery with a good ol 03 battery.

Thanks for the info on the battery, the sled sat around for a month and lost its juice and froze.
