hey guys i was wondering if one of you know the correct procedure how to adjust the fuel mixture on a apex i know that we can do it with the instrument cluster buttons. i asked my dealer how to do it but as you can expect his not to wiling to tell me.my buddy's 06 seem to be ritcher than my 07. so i will like to compared both sled fuel mixture i saw on this forum that a lot of 07 owners claim that they remark a leaner mixture on new sled.

Does anyone know for sure if this adjustment adds to the mid and top also.I know these things are rich to begin with and wouldn't want to add more fuel to the top end.

i believe it just richens up the low, you might want to check with srxspec (Allen)

I have mine at +25, and even had it that way on the asphalt.

I thought you could only go as high as +10?

The highest you can go is to +99 or -99. Affects from idle to the 7000 rpm range.

Thanks for the answer Allen. I also have another question... If a sled was raced 660ft on the ice with great traction like a speed track and 192 chisels wouldn't the sled holeshot better with the setting richer than stock????? When I used to grass drag my SRX'S and my 780 Mach Z the sled would always react and holeshot quicker with the pilots ,air screws and needles fatter than stock. Unfortunately you could never trail ride them that way.

This makes a big difference. With my custom exhaust at 10,000 ft my sled had a bad hesitation off idle. I have played with it and was running it at +25 which worked ok but seemed to load up on me if we did alot of slow tight tree riding for 10-15 minutes. In fact, It was too rich at idle when cold. I fired the sled up on the trailer the frist time on the last trip and let it sit and idle with out giving it any throttle to give it extra air and 15 seconds later it died and fouled all 4 plugs! Damit it!! Only 4-stroke in a group of 6 cats and I do a retard move. Had to remove all 4 plugs and heat with butane lighter.

Anyway.....Fuel is now set to +15 :) Eric

Is there anyone who hasn't had to adjust their fuel? My pipes are on the way-should be here by the end of the week. I have the instructions on how to adjust, they've been posted regularly to different threads, but how easy is it do this when you are out on the trail. Should I have a spare set of Cr10ek"s handy, or should I start out small and change as I go. Have any of you done this trail side? We have no snow, and I may not be able to tune mine until I go out of town to ride.
Do you think I would notice the hesitation if I could ride short sprints in a bare field? What kind of hesitation should I look for?
Nate

Dont worry. I flooded mine becasue I was at 10,000 ft with it set at +25. I've ridden it that way on the flat land with no problem even on start up.

Most aftermarket pipes dont not flow like my pipe and you will probly not even notice a problem with it in the set stock setting.

But, if you do want to adjust it its very quick to do. Takes about 1 minute to adjsut it on the trail. Eric

Without an O2 sensor, how would one decide on whether to mess with the setting or not? I would play with it, but really have no idea on how to gauge if it needs adjustment or not.

I ride at 2,000 feet altitude max, rarely below 0 F.

Can you burn these 4-strokes up like a 2-stroke from being too lean?
