Ok so I bought an 08 nytro, and my planned list of mods is

1. 162 track, rail extensions, and tunnel extension. Possibly ice scratchers, a set of simmons ski's, and either adjustable risers or rider forward kit.

2. 180hp turbo kit (either mcx or ulmer).

But I can't really afford to do both at the same time, one will be done immediatly, the other either in the spring or before next season.

So faced with the decision of tracking up and running NA for most of the season, or turboing and running stock track and drivers which would you choose?

FYI, I do most of my sledding in the canadian rockies in the steep and deep, and run with a couple modded 800 two strokes.......

Turbo

I would do the turbo right away. Alot of people run them with the stock track. You could always sell the maverick and probally buy a used camo challenger for what you sold the new maverick for. And stay at a 153 and have a better track. Or turn the maverick around. I am not sure if this was ever done with the mav list the attack20 but I think if it was done from the start your lugs would work better.

On my rx1 mtn, I did boost it BEFORE doing serious mods to ergonomy/suspension/ski/track, etc.

it was a good climber but not quite easy to drive.

Then I blew the engine and got an apex engine into it and took the blower off for that season but I did fully mod of from suspension, track, front end, steering, seat, exhaust, everything is lightweight and more ergonomics and lengthened it to 162".

Believe it or not, I much much better liked the machine normally aspirated that way thant boosted before.

but now I have this same machine with the blower back into it, so that give an surprisining good handling and mighty rx1 that will beat even the best of the newest mountain machines 90% of the time.

so I would do all the mods to it to be able to controle the boosted power and THEN boost it.

I bought a 09 Nytro and immediately tossed on a turbo from Powderlites (Hurricane did the install) and left the track alone. This year I stretched it out.

with the ulmers kit you will be fine for one season just tighten your front limiter all the way tight and switch to apex springs to keep the front end down when climibing. the drivers is going to be your weak link at this point but under 10lbs of boost will be fine till you can afford avids or wahl drivers

Thanks for the responses everyone, I did pull out of the turbo though, I was just stretching myself too thin buying it now, I am going to pay off at least half of the sled before I turbo, so in the spring it is.

The 162 camo extreme, drivers, extensions, hartman tappered tunnel mod, clutching and gearing are all on the way. I will be totally ready for the turbo in the spring.

Besides, it has been a few years (15) since I owned a mountain sled, I had to sell mine to go to school, so it's giong to take me at least that long to get back into riding and get my skillz up before the jump in power..... (plus this sled will be slightly different then my stretched 89 exciter, port and polish, head work, exhaust etc and all of 110 hp if I was lucky)

Thanks again......

Good choice on the sled, as you were thinking about RX1's. Think you made the better choice on putting on track, etc. Give you abit of seat time on the sled before you get alot more power.
