Kinda hard to enjoy your boat when its blowing $100/hr in fuel and tops out at 45. - LazyBastard

haha you are such an idiot! Why don't you inform Yamaha of your "findings" and they will erase the entire jet line-up.

ATTN Admins, is there a way to filter posts so I don't have to read Lazy's worthless opinions?

I picked up my XR1800 for $6500. Seats 5 and has a swim platform. Lots of storage for skies and stuff. 0-60 is unreal. Excellent ski boat.

they have the GP1300r motor don't they? that motor is sick in my gp1300r

They only built it for 2 years, 2001-2002. Came with 1200cc power valve motors. Mine has 1300cc power valve motors now.

Its all relative .... our 99 Exciter 270 can blow through about the same amount of fuel but during that time we can entertain upwards of 10 people between the boat / tube / skiis / etc. Try comparing the $ to 10 people on sleds for the same amount of time - even 10 riding 5 2up sleds the $ will still be pretty close. I can't take the wife / kids / same number of people to a movie for the same $ as we blow in the boat for 2 or 3 hours. If you want an efficient boat .... get a kayak!

no wonder yours is rocket. my gp1300r is an 04 with powervalves. in 05 they dropped the powervalves on the 1300 and increased power from 165hp to 170hp

I think you will really enjoy it, I have a 212SS (same motors as yours on a 21' hull) and we have a lot of fun. Some say they handle wierd compared to a prop boat, but this is my first boat so I dont know any better. As far as efficiency I think they do better than a 320hp prop boat.

jet boats are good for fun skiing...but...they have the wrong wake for a good slalom run.

Jeez...let the guy spend him money any way he likes. That is a VERY nice boat he's bought. It's a Yamaha...they are very well appointed, well thought out and VERY well built. The Jets aren't that bad on fuel in cruise mode...the 4-strokes are WAY better then the Merc Sportjet...WAY!!

My boat's fun Lazy...and it can burn close to $100/hr...but then again I'll be 40 miles ahead of you :).

The current Yamaha boats are really nice, and get excellent reviews. The marine (aka Waverunner) engines that power them are very low maint. and dead reliable. Took a glance at the website, but I didn't see the supercharged 1800 engine being offered? Not that the non-sc engine is a slouch, just that the "215ish hp" SHO engine is either closer to 270, or everyone elses (pwc) engine is around 200hp. Either way, sounds like summer fun!
