Does anyone have real data verifying it's worthiness?
Back to back testing. Changes to IAT's, a/f, Belt & clutch temps, etc.

Yes, search provides very little.

I have one sitting here on a shelf it was a pull from a wreck. Not sure it will get installed this season. My general comment is that it is a medium quality 3D printed part, I am sure it is fit enough for the purpose but you will need additional sidepanel vents to ensure clutches get cool air. My only potentially helpful observation is that the GAP CAP blocks the air from the normal intake route and all air would be forced to come from outside. That makes the GAP solution potentially better than the underhood CAI and probably the equivalent to one that runs outside the hood.

@yamamarc has one installed (ram air)

Understand & agree with your position on this. The only negative effects would be belt & clutch temps, if any? Honestly, I didn't want to change the exterior appearance unless completely necessary.

Hopefully yamamarc chimes in.

Sideshowbob had posted he noticed no change in belt temps running the gap intake and he runs a razorback belt temp gauge. The one thing with gap intake is I know of one local sled and another that posted on here a while back that there airbox had packed solid with snow from the snowdust and caused the sleds to run poorly. I dont doubt its effectiveness but I would install prefilter material behind the yamaha screen to prevent this. I believe slp sells some that is a sheet you can cut to size. It will keep the snow dust out. Moflow lower panel vents work great to get airflow on the clutches if desired.

I did see sideshowbob's review. But it was inconclusive as he added moflo vents at the same time.
Yes, saw the pic of completely packed air box. Agree with your assessment in regards to adding frogskin behind factory screen. Ty, I didn't think of that.

I have had the Gap Cold Air intake on my sled for over two full riding seasons the install was fairly straight forward, looks like an OEM setup, and I personally have not knowingly experienced excessive snow build up in the airbox.
Intake temps on my sled have always been manageable even when running hard on the 300 tune and the 8DN belt temps have not been an issue as displayed on the Razor belt temp guage but I also have the full MoFlo vent kit installed on my sled.
I have the "Gap Cap" to seal the stock airbox intake opening but have not and probably will not install it as I like the intake to have an alternate air source for trail riding but if I was doing a day of snow drags I would probably install the cap to ensure outside air only.

With all the great testing & reviews on the WAI's, here on the forum, this seemingly is at the top of the list of ideas. Probably not a huge advantage over stock. But I love the factory look & cool crisp straight path ramming effect it appears to provide.

Are you still running the foam filter or did you install the k&n filter in the airbox?

I have not tried this filter but if I went with the gap ram air intake I would consider this air filter.

It seems to me the factory vent strategy is pretty tough to beat.
Air enters thru a high frontal then exits at lower side panel. Basically putting the clutches & belt directly in it's path (cold air)
Blocking front (w/ram air) &Adding a lower vent in front or even side vents would seemingly be less effective.
