Had the embarrassing mishap of running out of fuel this weekend (about 1/2 a km from the pump
). My gauge still showed 1 bar, and am just wondering what you guys are reading if you've ever pushed the limit. I always assumed I would show no bars and then run out.

Someone did a post about how much gas is actually in the tank with the gas gauge. Hope this helps http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=45216

Thanks. So my next question is, why was I showing a bar, but the sled wouldn't move?

Stock tank? Maybe sending unit is a little bent or something?
On all my sleds I try to use my trip meter as my fuel guage. I know on my viper when I hit 200km, I better be near a gas station.

i ran er out of fuel once, 300ft from the gas pump...... was 26 babied miles with the gas light on. Dont know if thier was a bar left or not. ended up i think about 105 miles total on the tank. Was one of my better fuel runs...
Made it about 95 miles this weekend before the light came on. At 98 mies made it to the station and put 6.35 gallons in. One bar was showing before I added fuel.

What's your gauge say when you run dry?

First timer here and I learned that when my new to me '10 rtx se fuel light comes on, I have about 1 gallon left.
Thanks to who ever posted the 1.5 gallon Kolpin tank installed on there Nytro!
I took your advice and installed one before my first ride this past weekend...I love the added security!
I get around 100 miles per full tank and also the same fuel mileage as the 05 Rage my wife rides.
