That makes complete sense. If cruising around 40mph @ 6000 rpm you are only increase the rpm 2500 to 8500rpm and now you are travelling at 90 miles per hour which means you will cover more than twice the distance in the same amount of time but the rpm only increased 2500 and the speed more than doubled without doubling the fuel consumtion. I think the clutching must affect it a little. I had never thought about that before, maybe I'll keep my clutch the way it is.

LIPPY, SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A CLUTCHING ISSUE!
YOUR TOP SPEED IS WAY OFF!
YOUR ENGAGEMENT IS JUST FINE AT 4500 BUT, 98 MPH IS NOT NEAR WHAT IT SHOULD BE IF YOU WERE ON A ROAD OR STRAIGHT TRAIL!!!
I WOULD MAKE SURE YOUR CARBS ARE IN SYNC & CHECK ALL YOUR CLUTCH SPRINGS & PARTS FOR TROUBLE!
GOOD LUCK!

Artic, you are the scientist! I just ride my sled, not paying attention to the benefits of speed other than the grin on my face.
