I just put on my new gates 40c4313 g force belt, is it smaller then the 8jp belt??
With it just at the top of the secondary, its very tight I can barely spin the secondary by hand, I have a ops belt adjuster too.

Lengths may vary slightly, what you're probably feeling is a belt that's a lot more grippy. The gates is also a wider belt.
should the belt be above the secondary just a bit, or flush, right now its flush and very tight, my track spins on the sled stand.

Some may argue this but I have the gates belt on my turbo and I adjust it just how u said, right flush with the top of the secondary. Any tighter and the belt will start to squeal. I'm using the 8jp length gates not the 8dn length. It's smooth at take off but also on a hard launch it yanks right in a split second so I wouldn't worry too much about letting it sit flush like it is.

You need to adjust the deflection first...should use what it says in the manual...

Or...with the brake on you should "just" be able to spin the belt..it should be difficult.

Where the belt ends up on the secondary is a result of belt length

Mine are set up that after I did the belt spin..it sits way out of the secondary .

are the carbon belts hard on clutches? someone told me this

Only if you leave the brake on, or are stuck really bad and hammer down.

okay good to know i wanted to try one this yr

I think in your 7000 that belt should work real well. The cat clutches have noticeably smoother engagement than Yamaha in Viper stock. Gates should liven things up a bit. They grab really hard in a Viper depending on setup of course.

perfect thanks, love the stock belt other then price...but want to try gates....have about 4000kms on the current stock belt so its time for a new one

3rd season coming up using the Gates GForce carbon belt and had to change the shims on my Apex to .5 or the sled wouldn't move..too tight but love the belt, very little wear, much less belt dust, and no more noise at take off.

Same with my 2stroke's. Belt fits very tight. And is a hair wider then the factory belt it replaces.

Very grippy.

Oh, when I would start riding in very cool weather belt needs to warm up more than factory. Seemed to slip....just a bit when freezing!
