'15 RTX LE with MPI trail turbo. I finally know my afr numbers but I am wondering how the numbers are affected by the gems controller. I know there are 5 different numbers for the GEMs setttings but I have no idea what each number represents.

Last year before I had my gauges installed and was doing some drag racing I noticed that my viper would back fire when I got hard on the throttle. Now that I have my gauges installed I notice the the AFR numbers drop into the 9's if not into the 8's at the 6600 - 7200 RPM range. would this be considered rich and could it cause it to back fire at times?

I also noticed at WOT AFR drops from 11's and 12's to 9's and low 10's.

If I knew what each color represents I may be able to make some minor adjustments now that I actually know my AFR numbers.

Any info or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

You can download the gems instructions on MPI s site

If i put the mode #5 at 2.5 like they recomand and i am cruising at 7000rpm ,afr are in the low 10 even in the 9!
Lets be honnest the defaul setting is totally wrong for sea level!
I am not gona recomand anything to nobody for the gems.......
I can t make it work good enough!

I had 9000km on the sled and it never work how its supposed to... Always a lot of backfire headers is good ,red permatex everywhere to prevent any air leak..... To lean ,to rich....:mad::mad::o|:o|

Guys who ride at sea level whit mpi trail kit. Can you post your gems setup the 5 mode please???

Ok. I'm at sea level. I used the exact same setup as the mpi websit recommends other then 2 settings.

First the green setting idle- I leaned that out so the green light was on 1. Not blinking, solid.

Second the cruise setting. I leaned it out also. The red/blue setting. Went from 3.5 to 5Remember the cruise setting is backward from the other 4 settings. Higher the number the leaner it is.

So your mode #5 is still at 2.5???? If i ride it a this number the sled make "" fireworks"
mode 1-1
2-3
3-3,5
4-5
5-6
I already bust 2 exhaust the third one is on its way to break soon.......

MPI said its too lean and i overheat the exhaust......!!!!!!!!

My 5 mode is at 5 setting. But if your looking for richer you need to be at below 5. 1 is rich 10 is lean only with mode 5 the cruise mode. . What is your cruising afr numbers? I'm running around 11 afr cruising with the number 5 mode being set to 5.

Wow confusing on a message.

We are below 3000 feet. If I was you I would set yours up exactly like they say to. Other then the idle maybe. And then go from there

I'm at about 1000 ft and I run their recommended setting except I leaned the idle setting some

I'm generally around 800 ft above sea level. Settings I currently run after breaking in, getting some miles on the sled;

Green - 3
Yellow - 4
Green/Blue - 4
Red - 3

Red/Blue I don't remember.

Green - 4
Yellow - 4
Red - 3
Blue/Green - 5
Blue/Red - 3.5

Running at sea level. 9's and 10's at 7000 RPM cruise, Same for WOT. Backfires sometimes when I get hard on the Throttle from stop like in a Drag race.

Rich for surr

I leaned out the cruise setting and it made a big difference in both fuel mileage and afr numbers

Hey Joe, What is all 5 of your numbers?

Mine was crazy rich all the time till I made similar changes to what is mentioned above. I'm still having issues pulling proper rpm. I'm thinking the quiet muffler is causing a restriction on the system, making the thing run rich and robbing me of HP. It's a good bit faster than my friends stock xtx but doesn't seem anywhere near 170+ HP. I'm guessing around 155ish.
