Raced my buddys 850 and modded axys, got beat by both to 700 ft. My winder has mod stock dnd muffler and excell dial a boost. Mine trenches a lot even from roll. Have excell weights with magnets, loaded mostly at heal. Would seems like winder should do better

I'm guessing your setup is off... From traction to suspension.... Studs? What's your Rpms from holeshot to peak...

700 feet is a pretty short race especially since you're probably spinning like crazy.

You've got something seriously off kilter somewhere.

First thing you better do is find some traction it sounds like. 800's & 850's don't beat the winder even stock when all is working like it should.

Had a winder in the shop yesterday that was loosing boost because the exhaust pipe wasn't sealing going into the turbo. You could see where it was leaking looking a the clamp and almost melted the heat shield, it did in fact deform it. This is after we checked all the pressure hoses and clamps. It could only run even with the 850. You could hear it sounded like and exhaust leak also. He was riding our buds RR and knew his was not up to snuff so we went digging.

You are going to have have to dig to find the problems, because even if you're spinning you should suck their panels off those sleds like they are in reverse even in 700 foot. Hell we only race 660 foot in a drag race.

Hey Mike...

With a leak like that, before turbo correct? Does something like that show up on a boost gauge? Would it show low boost I mean?

Something like that might be hard to find if not hearing it, and not showing on boost gauge.

thx
Dan

Good find on the exhaust leak.. If the turbo doesn't receive the jam, it won't make fill jam..

OP,

Those studs won't cut it.. You're spotting 100 lbs so you need to get out...
To your peak Rpms.... Do you have the full stage 2 kit with clutching? What magnets are your weights set at? However.. Once you blow the track out.. It's likely over...

Yes, before the turbo Dan. I would imagine it would show less boost as the pressure to spin the turbine up is just not there to do so.
When we'd just crack the headers on the Apex's or RX-1's, they'd slow way down and wouldn't run good either.

It was hard to find, but once I seen the blackish carbon on the clamp, it was easier to see where it was leaking, then looking at the shield all black and deformed it was quite obvious.

It took two of us to stretch the exhaust pipe flex up and get the top clamp on properly with the piping seated properly into the turbo.
It is made like a two step design that never seated properly from the factory. It sat on the second step when they put the clam on a torqued it down, must have leaked right from the get go from the factory.

Guy sold the sled to my bud this summer with like 150 miles on it, what do you bet it was a dog and he said send this POS down the road thinking it was slow? HAHA! Poor dude probably went out and bought an 850 or Axys after getting beat the first time with it, unknowing that it wasn't making boost properly. Well, its going to boost now! We put a 240 Race tune in that one now too to top it off!

Suggest you give Aaron from Excell a call so he can help you diagnose the problem.

10"s of powder? glare ice? Hard pack?

I hate a short race in powder......just ain't right.

Not going anywhere on loose snow with this heavy sled without paddles. Why race when it's it's not a fair fight? Get on glare ice or hard pack for 1000ft or be prepared to take your medicine from your riding buddies!
