Guys, will I need to take off my gas tank shrowd to get the gas tank out when checking my exhaust donuts? with just under 9,000 miles I am starting to hear a fluffing noise and think they are toast, so I am going in to check it out. I just wondered how much work this will entail. thanks

ok, so holy tight batman at the end of the flex pipes to the "y". I followed Dan's plan except I loosened the rear exhaust and I am a hair from getting the donuts off without taking the flex pipes off the head. I really dont want to take the flexers off as I can get a good bite on them. I will try and loosen the middle bolts in the tunnel and see if I can squeeze that 1/8 of an inch and get them off. by the way for what it is worth this seems to be exact directions from the apex to my rx. Thanks Dan!

When I did mine I had the motor out so the flex's were off the head. I'll be interested if you can get them replaced with out removing them. Thanks for the update.

well I didnt risk damaging the new donuts and took the flex pipes off and went that route. I needed smaller hands for the bolts on the head let me tell you. Siliconed them with some rvt and seems to be nice and tight. I was surprised to find only 1 donut that was falling apart. the other three were really nice. I have 8,900 miles so I am pleased. I hope these new ones hold up as well.

What I did was drilled out the ten rivets that holds front bracket of two y-pipes. Slid the exhaust back far enough to replace the gaskets slid the exhaust back and rerivted th bracket back in.
